Our next striker

We aren't going down.

So sit on our hands and try for Liam Delap in the summer.

Unless, a decent loan or Zirkzee, who it sounds like the club like or similar opportunity arises.

Moyes was publicly desperate for him - every chance hes available in the summer.

Do you think Moyes would still want him if he continues as he is at Chelsea and available for e.g £30mil ?

I can't imagine watching our games and thinking a better striker would fix things, unless you're talking someone like Kane or Haaland. Like I just don't know where these extra goals come from - a better striker finishes more moves off, how many good moves are actually going unfinished?

Like sure if we can find a Lukaku 2.0, that would be amazing. But...players like Troy Parrott?

I think people were right about having 2 attacking full backs.

I also think if we had KDH & Garner 8s then a 6 would mean they could play higher up the pitch. Alternatively a 10 would mean the CF isnt so isolated.

So for me 2 full backs + either a 6 or an 8 before we consider 'upgrading' Barry.

The caveat being if we could sell Beto then we need to bring someone in even on loan. Just so we pocket the cash until the summer.

Agreed unless your Suarez, Henry or Rooney who weren’t reliant on service you haven’t got a chance in this team

Precisely. Not how were playing and setup.

It would have to be a superstar level forward and theyve never grown on trees + Moyes has never found one + thesedays not make above average strikers about.

Undoubtedly.

Moyes was very public in his admiration and declaring how much he wanted him a few months back - an iffy start at Chelsea wouldn't deter that. Better players haven't done it at Chelsea.

This season he's missed a lot with injury. Was having injury problems the second half of last season I seem to recall as Ipswich were playing Hirst a lot as their striker

Just had a quick scout, and looks like he made 37 premier league appearences for them last season, and 40 across all competitions.

Not sure we can say injury prone based on Aug-December this season. If he's had problems before - then maybe.

I think some of those games were sub appearances as they were managing his physical issues. I only recall this because I was hoping we'd buy him and seem to remember his manager saying they had to manage an ongoing physical issue hence why Hirst was playing.

Bad knee injury for Hull IIRC

Looks like he had a season there, played 32 games.

Just glancing at his age, and games - he doesn't appear the injury prone type but then - if he's having recurring, same injuries then fair enough.

When we were trying to sign him I don't recall anyone saying he was a crock.

I don't think he's like Rohl/DCL crock or anything but he's a physical striker and seems like that can cause himself problems.

But regardless, even though I think he'd suit us, don't want him anywhere near us. Proper thug.

I think you're right, once Moyes develops an opinion on a player and seeks out his services , he doesn't get dissuaded regardless of most circumstances. Usually has to experience a debacle with a player firsthand like Kelvin Phillips for his outlook to change
