This window reminds me of when we signed Tosun and Walcott. Then I felt it was daft as Allardyce was getting legged and we'd not achieve anything with them that we otherwise wouldn't.

As for the actual subject I think first thing they are looking for is someone who works hard & can press. No matter how skillful etc if he's lazy he's out. Also needs to be able to lead the line alone so club won't be signing a poacher.

A more clinical striker would obviously add more goals than we currently have, but I feel the attacking tactics which have been an issue all season would hinder any striker from regularly scoring. We're so slow in our build up play , if we tried to create more breaks that were similar to Barry's first goal I think we'd be productive goal wise instead the ball gets plodded around then we send a bunch of aimless crosses into the opposition box where the defense is concentrated

I can't imagine watching our games and thinking a better striker would fix things, unless you're talking someone like Kane or Haaland. Like I just don't know where these extra goals come from - a better striker finishes more moves off, how many good moves are actually going unfinished?

Like sure if we can find a Lukaku 2.0, that would be amazing. But...players like Troy Parrott?
