If high balls into the box are an obvious weakness of your opponents then it's not the worst idea as it will be the last thing they are expecting and if you do it in an organised fashion it could be very useful indeed.
Used to do it a lot in the great mid-80's team albeit it was down the sides rather than central. The in joke at the time was that the players were indulging in a bit of spread betting as to the time of the first throw in.
