Its interesting how people think giving players hugs and kisses is going to make them better players.
Iwobi was a scapegoat for a while for us, being pretty awful and going into his shell.
What did he do? He pulled his socks up (figuratively) worked hard and his form improved...........became one of our more important players and is now seen warmly towards fans, and probably would still be contributing here if it wasn't for Dyche, or PSR or whatever. remeber in an interview him speaking about us fans as mad, demanding but will get behind you if you show your hard work and bravery on the ball.........he's pretty much spot on.
You dont become a good player by going inside your shell over some criticism, you thrive off that sort of stuff, if you cant handle that, go and play for Burnley
I'm not advocating hugs and kisses from people. I think verbal abuse at a personality like
Dibling is counter productive and brainless.
If you were booed and geered when being brought on as a sub would that improve your performance?
Also if I was being verbally abused by some people for a lack of work rate who would struggle walking up the stairs without getting out of breath themselves then again, it's not exactly going to improve my performance.
Hilarious if you think Iwobi being verbally abused by a portion of the fan base improved his performances...so it had nothing to do with Frank Lampard who brought out the best in him by building up his confidence by firstly publicly complementing his performances in training and then on match days?!
It's not 1955. Shouting at every single player and expecting them to magically improve doesn't work any longer. It's not a one size fits all.
Sure, some players need a rocket fired up them every now and again but that's for the manager to do and it carries more impact if not done every single game.
