While I agree it isn't helpful, it's borne of frustration. This team is close to being competitive this season, but Myko in particular is an extremely weak link, and most of the attacks down that side fall apart when he is involved. He's a half decent defender who tries hard, but it is hard work paying to watch him week in, week out.
That's not unreasonable but why shout stuff at him and make him play worse? It's counter productive. Need to get behind the team. The constant moans and groans are unhelpful

It was the same in the 80's when we used to win plenty. Harper and Richardson used to get dogs abuse. Richardson went on to win 3 League titles at 3 different clubs but was the whipping boy at Everton
I don't remember seeing that with Richardson, especially when he played with his arm in plaster in 84 including in the Cup Final.

Harper maybe less popular but hardly a target for booing.

Don’t agree with it personally but it’s always been part of playing at a traditional big club. Add years of torment and frustration and it’s even more feral at times. They’re very well compensated for any earache or butthurt they might experience

Its interesting how people think giving players hugs and kisses is going to make them better players.

Iwobi was a scapegoat for a while for us, being pretty awful and going into his shell.

What did he do? He pulled his socks up (figuratively) worked hard and his form improved...........became one of our more important players and is now seen warmly towards fans, and probably would still be contributing here if it wasn't for Dyche, or PSR or whatever. remeber in an interview him speaking about us fans as mad, demanding but will get behind you if you show your hard work and bravery on the ball.........he's pretty much spot on.

You dont become a good player by going inside your shell over some criticism, you thrive off that sort of stuff, if you cant handle that, go and play for Burnley
I'm not advocating hugs and kisses from people. I think verbal abuse at a personality like Dibling is counter productive and brainless.

If you were booed and geered when being brought on as a sub would that improve your performance?

Also if I was being verbally abused by some people for a lack of work rate who would struggle walking up the stairs without getting out of breath themselves then again, it's not exactly going to improve my performance.

Hilarious if you think Iwobi being verbally abused by a portion of the fan base improved his performances...so it had nothing to do with Frank Lampard who brought out the best in him by building up his confidence by firstly publicly complementing his performances in training and then on match days?!

It's not 1955. Shouting at every single player and expecting them to magically improve doesn't work any longer. It's not a one size fits all.

Sure, some players need a rocket fired up them every now and again but that's for the manager to do and it carries more impact if not done every single game.

I t

I believe it was written as Catterick getting 'jostled'.
Take your pick.
"One of the fans who was there that day, Alan Hartley, recalls, "it was more a jostle and never a kick at our former manager"
Or.
Dick Fearon adds, "After just watching a hopeless Everton surrender without a fight to Blackpool, a small group of fans were gathered outside Bloomfield Rd players entrance. After such a absolutely horrible display, it was natural that we were not a happy bunch, especially as Alex Young had been dropped for that game.
It was a bitterly cold wet grey and windy day. The players hurried to the warmth of the team bus. We voiced our frustration at Harry Catterick and some jeered when he slipped on the wet pavement. A few of the fans helped him regain his feet and that was the sum total of it all... yet the myth was born and lingers to this day."

Fella at the back of the South Stand was apoplectic all game. I don't think a single player was saved his vitriol. His comment about Pickford being a 'slicked-back t**t' for absolutely no reason particularly stood out.

When a couple of the players came over to clap the stand at the end, he was screaming his demand that no one clap back.

I think he was hoping for a fan uprising, storming of Hill Dickinson and decapitations because of a dull performance.

.......Could hear any shouts directly at them apart from those near the front row. As for that imbecile mentioned from the back of the South Stand, how could players possibly hear him? Some exaggerated assumptions on here.

You would hope that any business that invests insane amounts of money in it’s assets would also invest in the very best mental coaching, which should include how to deal with (ignore) retards shouting abuse & understand that they’re just projecting the disappointment in their own sad lives.

Do I think we’ve had players not up to standard? Yes. Many!
Do I think we’ve had players who look not ar5ed? Yes. A few.
Would I boo them or scream personal abuse? NO, because only a retard would think that’s going to make them better.

It’s the job of the board to recruit the right Manager & players. Boo on the HT/FT whistles, fine. Send a message. But screaming abuse at your own players is moronic. I remember seeing Arteta & Stones reacting to morons. Well done you SuperBloos!

Some fella in a pair of fila trainers was so angry that spit from his mouth flew in my face as made way up from the toilet.

People are bizarre. It’s only a game of footie.
