Our corners

At least whip them in so it's difficult for the Goalkeeper to catch or punch
Front post, back post, penalty spot. 30 minutes, every training session. Put the targets up, and hit them consistently.

It's a madness we can't find a good left foot like Digne's in world football. McNeil can occasionally do wonders but it takes him a month to warm up and get it singing.

Arsenal gang up at the back post & run in to meet the corner - that was just plain stupid Oh we only tried it 11 times FGS even if the ball had bounced kindly out to a player to shoot we had a ten man wall to beat on the line ??????

In the times were you could get a direct free kick in the penalty area for obstruction 6-8 yards out the opposition put all the players on the line with the keeper in front of them - seldom did I see any team score from one .....

DM must know that it was in his era ??????

….we lack innovation, imagination and movement. What we saw last night is us failing to exploit our aerial threat.

We also miss McNeil’s delivery from corner kicks.
The deliveries were spot on actually.

Not one sailed over the area and not one failed to get past the 1st man.
Which we normally do.

The rest of your post is right.

Agree.
No chance

Try it once or twice but change things when it's not working.
Although the amount of stick we are getting and saying we turned it into a wrestling match when you look at that picture there are far more Utd players in there and two are blatantly holding Tarkowski.
No way are we getting a pen though and guaranteed VAR would disallow any goal we might have scored.
9 v 5 actually

Its always baffles me this "ball not in play " rule
If Tarks smacks or elbows Yoro or McGuire he's getting a red card.
So why cant they give a penalty.
He's being manhandled / assaulted ( try that in the street ) you'll be charged.

But if thats Old Trafford and roles reversed i'd bet its give as a pen.

the 23/24 season we scored 12 goals, looking at the goals, we mixed it up,

Some came from balls whipped in high across the 6 yard box with our lads running in and jumping on to it
Some came from balls played in high to the near post and flicked on with our lads running in for the 2nd ball
Some came from balls played in high to the back post and played back across goal.

None of them have come from us putting 4 or 5 players on the line. I don't get why we have stopped doing that. With the players we have, we should be able to come up with a better corner routine than we did last night.

What tactics where they ?
No chance of scoring blocking the goal line in that way ?
No player to run on to the ball any corner cross
Plus if a knockdown fell to one of our players goal line totally blocked?
School boy tactics FGS !

I guess it doesn't matter what the pre-agreed tactics were if all our corners are like this...

Some real thickos in our side to be fair.

1. If something constantly isn't working, it doesn't matter what the manager has told you, try something new.
2. You think you're going to get the benefit of a doubt against Manchester United if you initiate a huge goal mouth shoving match? Even if we'd have somehow put one in it would have been ruled out.

Where was the leadership out there?

On that final point, Tarkowski had to take one for the team and wipe out Sesko. No idea why he didn't.
