We all know what it's like on here during a transfer window.

We're linked to someone we've never heard about but we trust our scouts and managers so we get excited, we build them up as a secret gem in our mind and then we don't buy them and because we've built them up as the next Puskas we're gutted.

So lets have a look at some of our targets we either passed on or couldn't get.

1. Vegard Forren: Norwegian Defender.

@when i score we riot started the hype with a report from his native norway. "Forren is a powerful and determined type of CB. Got all the qualities, like. Composure, strength, aerial prowess and not too bad on pace. Plays ball really, really well too, and doesn't mind getting forward - a quality he shares with Distin. Better at hoofing it than Jagielka. I guess he has the right mental qualities as well, he was instrumental in Molde's league win last year (and the pending win this year), the type of future-captain material you want your centre backs to be like.

Obviously, we'll never sign him. Everyone is looking at him, he's been linked with the likes of AC Milan and Man U"

@Joao Moutinho was the next to jump on the hype train "This lad is the whole package lids.

I really hope he doesn't flop after me saying this, but he is an ace defender."

Hype was therefore reaching epic proportions when we pulled out of the deal and Forren instead had a trial at Liverpool enraging our fan base.

@Aidey9 said it best "It'll be a shame if we let this one slip away, and to them!. We was originally interested in Agger and lost out to them c**ts, hope we dont lose another, up and coming player to them!."

@Eggs said it in even stronger terms ".....gazumped by the enemy. This is why we look like key stone cops in the transfer market, we line them up and have to wait for somebody to leave before we can see the deal through. This really is what is so frustrating with the unbelievable situation our custodians have put is in."

As did @BoysInBlue "Moyes is going to be absolutely FURIOUS about this.

A player he has had watched for months and months and clearly fancies stolen under his nose by Liverpool.

And why? Because of the same old story - Billy boy is skint, and not just him because he's the easy scapegoat, but the likes of Robert Earl and Jon Woods don't invest a penny into Everton Football Club.

Shameful. No wonder he hasn't signed a new contract yet."

So obviously with us having been taken for fools, Forren went to Anfield and won 80 trophies.

Except actually he was picked up by southampton then sold by them without playing a single league game and is currently playing in the norwegian league at the age of 27.

Join us at some later time for another gem who we let slip through our fingers.

.....I like the transfer window, the rumour mill is great and it can be frustrating when a target goes elsewhere but you are right that more often than not they prove to be a disappointment. Still, there's always the next one, eh.
