Yeah thats quite common amongst clubs. Teaching football is a good way to understand the game as it takes the perspective away from yourself. Great bonus that local kids can one day watch Everton and say "they coached me"!My local team makes full use of its training pitches. Runs skills sessions for all age groups as young as 6 as part of community outreach to get kids more involved in sport.
The training is run buy the older youth team players who the club pushes through their coaching badges.
The kids love it, as not only do they play football, they get to know the youth team players they can see playing (youth team games are free to watch for those u16), and they get indoctrinated into the club.
The youth team players love it because they get coaching badges and a bit of a purpose outside actually playing (and there is always competition in the older age groups). The club love it because pretty much all the kids in the U21/18’s have coaching badges, so they understand the game/fitness/training a bit better, and the young kids get used to being around the club, helping out and supporting.
This is probably the most consequential of everything on this thread.Kings Dock
I'd prefer one that consistently produces Premier League capable players. Very few Ajax youth players have fulfilled that requirement the last few years. An Ajax style youth academy.
