Random fact - Iran's women's team and three Jordanian players were banned at the second round of the Asian qualification tournament due to not adhering to FIFA dress code; the players were allowed to play while covering their head in the first round. FIFA banned the hijab in 2007.

It's all a bit Micky mouse though really. There will be the finest sportsmen and women representing their individual sports from all around the world, but not so in football because they will all be on holiday, not entered or whatever. I think it demeans the Olympics..

That Brazil side is very far from Mickey Mouse. Lucas Moura, Ganso, Neymar, Pato, Leandro, Sandro, Thiago Silva. Pretty much the core of the home side for the 2014 World Cup I'd imagine.

But where's our team, where's Germany, Italy, France, Argentina. I just think it's a bit Micky mouse that's all......

Spain's squad ain't so bad either...

David De Gea (Manchester United), Diego Marino (Villarreal), Joel Robles (Atletico Madrid); Jordi Alba (Valencia/Barcelona), Cesar Azpilicueta (Marseilles), Alberto Botia (Sporting Gijón), Alvaro Dommnguez (Borussia Monchengladbach), Inigo Martinez (Real Sociedad), Javi Martinez and Mikel San Jose (both Athletic Bilbao), Martin Montoya (Barcelona); Thiago Alcantara and Cristian Tello (both Barcelona), Ander Herrera (Athletic Bilbao), Isco (Malaga), Koke (Atletico Madrid), Juan Mata and Oriol Romeu (both Chelsea); Adrian Lopez (Atletico Madrid), Iker Muniain (Athletic Bilbao), Rodrigo (Benfica), Alvaro Vazquez (Espanyol).

I was tempted to go to an Old Trafford game, the thought better of it given my overall antipathy towards the wanky olympics and the amount of money spunked on it during a recession.

Our team? You mean the GB team as selected by Stuart Pearce...or do you mean England; who don't and never have competed as a nation at the Olympics?

The other sides didn't qualify through their respective confederation's U21 tournaments. It's not invitational and isn't Mickey Mouse.

If you're not supporting Murray then you best not be supporting any British athlete in the Olympics and trying to bask in their reflected glory. You've made your bed so lie in it.
