The Necropalis (or Low Hill Cemetery) was at the junction of West Derby Road & Everton Road. It closed in 1899, landscaped & re-opened in 1914 as Grant Gardens which is still there to this day. What’s also still there are 80,000 buried bodies.

There had been a practice fire a few years' earlier, nudge, nudge, wink, wink, say no mor. The fire alarms weren't even automatic and had to be started manually. Even then they weren't connected to a fire station. lol
It was a great market though, full of character ; plenty of stalls were populated by gift of the gab merchants.
