Sorry Joey, but I can't agree they were cheap or journeymen.

Peter was 24 when he signed with Eggo for EFC, and was Captain of Rovers having joined them at 17 in 1939.
The £10,000 transfer fee for the pair I may have been excellent business, as both of them played over 400 times for Everton, but it was not cheap in 1946!

Billy Steel's move from Morton to Derby for £15,500 was a new First Division record in 1947.

Peter also captained Ireland, and scored at Goodison in the 2-0 defeat of mighty England in 1949.

May be not, but in comparisons to what we spent when John Mores became Chairman we became the Mersey Millionaires fees for players records were broken from 1959 onwards - Bobby Collins being the first edition & he was a mature player .....,they all played their parts in our promotion in the 1954 season my late father liked Captain Peter Farrell.....
