...sorry CM, I think the picture I commented on was the evening we won the league in 1970. 10 Englishmen and 1 Scot.

Without looking, who was the Scotsman who played that famous evening?

....Sandy Brown (I think). It is amazing, though, as you point out, that teams those days were predominantly British/Irish. It’s not that long ago, but the game now is so cosmopolitan.

Just thinking about how many Academy players might have been in that 1970 side. John Hurst and Jimmy Husband weren’t local but came through our ranks. Roger Kenton is from Blackpool and was around the fringes, I presume he came through the Academy route. Whittle, Royle, Labone, Tommy Wright, Harvey and Johnny Morrissey were certainly local lads. That is quite a %.
