We were indeed excellent and should have been a few goals up by the time United scored. They only created us any problems for the last 10 minutes.
One thing that I remember to this day is how MOTD's edited highlights lasted about quarter of an hour of which the first 80 minutes received 2 or 3 minutes of attention, the other 10-15 minutes was virtually shown in full.
You right mate I remember that,if you weren't at the game and saw the highlights you would think United won comfortably.

Wonder if it was the Real Madrid thing ... bit like Leeds???
Not really it was just an idea the club came up with I think we wore white away too in cup games in that era 1963 0nwards for a few seasons - then the amber /blue shorts kit came in which looked great -
Do you know of any reason behind behind it Joey?

It was cup-tie rules at the time...any cup, the zingari cup, the world cup...hence England's red shirt Vs W. Germany.

That's why the rs have red shorts now.
Their old white shorts clashed with, iirc, Anderlect. Home team changes...they kept them because they all though they were lucky.
They even started wearing them in the league until the League said Oi, you, No! you have to stick with the kit colours you declare at the start of the season
But they changed their official colours for the next season

We changed our kits when their was no co.ur clash at home in the cups - even when in the league games it was always the opposition who responsible for changing their kit if any colour clash shorts socks shirt etc ....
Man City's away kit was alarming in the league ......purple stiripes etc :D

great night.....great team....great win.......great stuff. Had a hangover for a few days after that win. And then everything came crashing down to that loopy Norman Whiteside goal. Such is life..........
