Great player. Let's hope that he can stay fit. Or better still........get even fitter.
Let's build a proper team.around this guy. IMO we are half way there in doing that. But it's the other half of the team that I'm worried about.
But we will get there. Don Carlo will.get there. Everton will get there.

A Blues legend who doesn’t get the headlines of others & had the unenviable task of filling Dixie Dean’s boots. Tommy Lawton scored 65 goals in 87 matches for the blues. Amazing record, but some differ saying he was great , but never as great as the player he replaced Dixie Dean -
Never as Loyal either - Joe Mercer reckoned he had everything a complete no 9 should have though.....

Scored stacks of goals for Everton in.the war years......but only the official league games count for his stats. Must check.to see how many wartime goals that he actually scored.

Yes the war his private life divorce meant he had to divorce our club & go away down south - he always stated he should never have divorced us - his private life was always in turmoil after leaving us ....financially he was always in bother......even spent time in jail bankrupt.... the war year games were from where you played near you billet too..... sides were mixed teams too.....
