I was surprised to see that the threepenny bit in the picture was circular.

It seems it changed to 12 sides in 1937.

Not many people know that..
I certainly didn't, but it would be about right for that current Conservative party leading us into another World War within 30 years and worrying
about the shape of our currency.

240 is a much more versatile number than your boring 100.
It divides by 1 & 2 obvs, but also...
3, 4, 5, 6, 8, 10, 12, 15, 16, 20, 24, 30, 40, 48, 60, 80, 120, 240.
