One of my favorite moments as an Everton supporter, and one of my favorite players also. He was FAR too good for the Everton side he played in - he was such a fast thinker he was light years ahead of any player around him. NEA he played for them.

Him and Kanchelskis were SO far ahead of ANY player we have had at Everton in terms of quality since the great 80's side broke up.

I stood in Smiths a few years ago reading Beardsley's autobiography. He was very pleased with the move to Everton and says scoring the winner in a Derby a year or so later was one of the highlights of his career. Just about the best player I have ever seen playing football...
