Bingham wanted the old championship team out in the book I am reading now - even HK who had just won the merseyside player of the year as he kept us from relegation felt as if Bingham wanted him out.........

True enough - appropriate in a way that the vastly underrated John Hurst was the last of that team to survive. BTW, Westy must have retired not long after that photo was taken - Lawson and Dai his replacements!
Shilton was available much cheaper than no shoulders Lawson too........
The Latch stated if we had got Shilton we would have won things......
