Okay that's the breaking point

Give the bloke a chance!

He's come in and stopped the rot. We were conceding goals for fun.

It's going to take time to improve possession and start playing attractive football.

Honestly don't understand some fans, expecting us to be unbeaten in 7 games whilst playing attractive possession football after koeman had poisoned the squad.

We wont get that by playing percentage football. We have hugely ridden our luck in the last month or so.

That's probably true, but if we did finish seventh, then, barring the possibility of getting a really top manager in, would you sack Allardyce ?

Under those circumstances, I'd struggle to justify sacking him without having someone who is obviously much better lined up to replace him, and, by much better, I'm thinking of managers who most people would see as being in the top ten list of managers.

OK, I get that, but I like many others believe he has done what he has needed to do to steady the ship. Now that the first part of that is complete, what if he does push us on?

Now a bit of confidence is back, Rooney, Gana, Coleman, Barkley and a couple of strikers come back in to improve the quality, if we finish 7th again, does that not earn him another season? Again, if not, why not?

This is where I am going too.

Survival step one, be hard to beat, it’s phase 1 of any development really.

We’ve invested about 50 odd million in the defense in the past couple of years, at least we are getting some value now.

Phase 2, once we get a few players back and we get the January window out of the way.

I think we will qualify for Europe myself.

I was totally against bringing him in but once we did Allardyce has to be given a chance. The calls to sack him already are rediculous and I suspect, little more than wumming. Which I'm not surprised at given the manager has become pretty much untouchable on here.

Yes he needs to be given a chance and if he manages to get us playing decent football in the second half of the season and gets us up to around 7th, then I'd say he's probably deserved to have a gi at the summer tfr market and see out his contract.

But lets put things into perspective. He aint gonna get that by playing 5 at the back and 2 DMs against the most out of form and goal shy team in the league.

Also the points gained have been a lot higher than our perfirmances have credited. It was brilliant to get a draw at the RS and also our first away win since January. But our performance against Chelsea was embarrassing fir a home team and our wins have all been against relegation fodder, and even then we had to ride our luck at times. The line up against Albion handed the initiative to the home team from the outset. It was a poor strategy and he deserves criticism for it. Fine against RS away but if he continues with those tactics he'll soon start to lose the Goodison faithful. Guarantee it.

To not recognise that is breataking.
Mate. I was surprised at how much the fans not.just accepted, but applauded our performance against Chelsea. Make no bones we rode our luck and were absolutely toothless in attack.

The Albion game was just absurd. How people can defend him going into that game with such a defensive line up is beyond me.

It was the perfect oppirtunuty to play Vlasic or Lookman with Niasse alongside DCL but he gave away the inituative from the start.

This is true but I do think we have been riding our luck, and he knows it. Newcastle we got lucky really, scruffy goal while they hit the post twice and had a great chance towards the end , Swansea as well, the score line doesn't reflect how unconvincing we were, we are unbeaten but we really basically aren't very good at doing anything apart from stopping multiple goals

Big Sam has given us a charmed life pens hit woodwork etc - luck is not a coincidence its comes to a team with belief , and confidence - as I stated let him get us stable then we want to see proper football in time, that is a must at a club like ours it's in our history - he has 16-17 months to do it!
or less if he fails!
I will accept the dirge we are playing ATM if we are unbeaten or have a good run but if after january this style of hoof ball continues no way will I support him for now yes it's very early days - he and Unsworth inherited a unbalanced squad , and that's being polite!
Sams been honest about it - his pay, and job is to take us up the table -he is got a hell of a lot backed by Moshiri!
Nothing but the best will do!

Don't think anyone is defending him for the performances...I think everyone is in agreement that they are very poor. It doesn't matter if we have been lucky or not we just haven't conceded that many goals hence the points coming in. Pickford hasn't really had too many wonder saves to make. We have restricted chances for the opposition hence the disappearance of 4 and 5 goal thrashings by teams we thought we were better or as good as. People are defending the bedwetting attitudes of people already calling for his head and to the people who have the short memories and have already forgotten what went before.

Up to Alladyce now in January to find the players capable of making us into a more dangerous side. At the moment I am quite disinterested in performance and more interested in points after the debacle before him.

Think most of us can deal with the performance at the moment as long as we keep getting points but the clock is on him to make the performances better.

He's turned us around in 6 games, we were in a serious mess after the Southampton hammering but that seems a distant memory for some on here, we've stopped leaking goals but it's clear that Allardyce doesn't have much confidence in the players going forward, so why would he set up any other way? We have been poor for months so give it time and stop feeling so entitled, leave that to the tools across the park.

why do people relate to the game before last under Unsworths reign - his last game was a 4-0 win with reall good attacking football - the players Sam is relying on are some of his youth players - sad Unsworth never made it I agree on that - but his points tally in the prem was not that bad - Sam was a last resort choice OK!

"Nine times out of ten West Brom win that game" - Kevin Kilbane.

That's the third time that's been said about the team since Sam took over (RS and Chelsea games the other two).

Sam could well be a lucky manager.
He has bred confidence with that you get the lucky breaks!
the hoof ball is dire and will have to improve after January as the squad both he and Unsworth worked with is so unbalanced , and that's being polite!
