Did anyone say we played amazing?

I don’t think I’ve seen the word amazing specifically. But lots of other superlatives.

The official IG has just posted about a James Garner Masterclass. We had 30% possession with 77% accuracy against a Dyche team

It was a good away performance in the circumstances. It wasn’t a great performance.

It was a great defensive, counter-attacking performance. None of their shots were threatening - just stat padding. Garner was amazing; you might want to look up his numbers.

We need to talk about Tim.
He’s gradually becoming a permanent fixture in the engine room.
Got everything to be a very good Everton player if he continues his current trajectory.
Very underrated in my opinion.
KDH-Tim-JG is potentially the best midfield in decades.
Can all defend can all attack in diff ways. The way Tim gives drives through the middle, the way he can glide past players, the players around him should be licking their chops for some of that action.
Just need the players around these 3, have what needed behind them in Pickford and CBs.
Finally got something to build a team around

There were two chances that they probably should have scored, which would have changed the narrative dramatically.

I agree he was very good - but if he and Tim played so well, why didn't we have better control of the game? Is it because we intentionally sat back and conceded possession? Or are the rest of the team just not able to hold onto the ball?

The game was played completely out wide. Our 2 centre mids can’t just pass between each other to create an illusion of control just because our possession % would go up. Centre mids can have a very good game without just standing on the ball for 90 minutes. He also got a goal and an assist and also should have had another assist for Tarkowski’s header. We should really have had about 4 to their 2.

Appreciate your perspective. I'm not a complete possession % lover - though there were times when sustained possession would have taken some pressure off. I'm curious what helps us get there.

The second goal - if that had been Foden to Haaland, or had been Saka to Gykores it would have been sung from the skies by the media, but it there were few superlatives from anywhere cos it was Jimmy to Barry. Not forgetting the initial ball win by McNeill and how Barry set it to Garner in the first place.
Absolutely agree, though the commentary we have in NZ was glowing over the goal. Like everyone, saw the line up and thought we would really struggle, but what an all round performance.

Anyway, what a fantastic way to finish 2025, nearly 60 points in the calendar year and the club in a way better position than this time last year. 2026 already over here - have a great New Year to all Evertonians!

Are we getting a bit ahead of ourselves here. I thought Garner and Tim were great and the back four were solid, but we couldn’t hold onto the ball and conceded 20+ shots of which 7 were on target. If they were that good wouldn’t we have more
But that’s the whole point. Give a Dyche team possession and they don’t know what to do with it. Instead, play on the counter, which is the opponent’s main, and really their only, weapon.

Totally agree on the goal , each element was great .

Excellent away performance, despite them having loads of possession they never looked threatening probably other than the one occasion they decided not to launch an aimless cross .

Garner was excellent , Tim good and the two centre halves excellent although I suspect they couldn’t believe their luck as another aimless cross floated in .

Listen Ina
Listen I agree with that. Moyes has shown him up IMO with the points total with the same players.
But we really were in deep sh1t3 when he became manager.
I thought he did well in fairness when he first arrived.

Might be different if he wasnt such an arrogant bellend. Dont think he liked Everton fans and the feeling was pretty mutual.
Way he's acting right now at Forest they'll have more letters to the PGMOL than points.
Another deflection from Sean.

I think the point it that the players who came in left everything on the pitch and that in itself is outstanding. You could see the effort they put in and teamwork. We had nobody on the bench and half those lads out there were knackered on 70 minutes. But somehow they all found that extra yard. It was an exceptional performance on that basis.

Anybody that now talks about Garner, should have listened to me for years.

Last night was about Team Spirit, not phenomenal quality.
We showed it, we won, that's better than just good enough for me, and will be to 99.99% of real Blues.

Not questioning your support though, just thats why posters are very happy..
