NFL 2022 Season

They wanted to trade him before they hired the new coach. Then he said from the jump he wanted Tua so that was that. He seems to have known what he was doing.

I will say for all the praise Flores got in Miami, some of it deserved, jerking around his QB wasn't exactly the best coaching you'll see. McDaniel fixing it (with an assist from Hill) has made them a contender impressively fast.

they were tapping Brady up though so it wasnt like they were just wanting to bin Tua for nothing

Indeed. Adding Connor Williams and Terron Armstead to the OL has helped a lot too. Tua's got a good pocket around him on most passing plays now, although it's not perfect yet.

Also, looking back at the second half of the regular season in 2021 where he led the Dolphins in a seven game winning streak it's illuminating to consider that he did so AFTER Miami had started the season 2-7. His achievements in the back end of last year are somewhat overshadowed by the fact that they didn't make the playoffs.

Looking at the stretch between week 10 of last year and now, there are very few QBs who have been as consistent as Tua. But that period straddles two seasons so admittedly it doesn't get reflected in the same way. It will be interesting to see what extra respect he will be offered if he leads Miami to a playoff win or two this year.

Tua is playing well better than Brady and also won't be bad/retired in the next few years knock on wood. They got lucky there tbh.
Trading for Brady now would only make sense for a team that has everything in place on D and has a upper-tier OL, but lacks an efficient QB to get them over the top. And that's before you rule out the candidates who can't fit him under the salary cap.

Brady will finish his career as a Buccaneer, unless he does one of those one-day deals to allow him to finish up where he started. But imagine if he was in a Titans or 49ers uniform right now...

The reason Brady looks so average now (aside from his age) is the Bucs offensive line. It's a shambles. The three best guys from the last two seasons - Ali Marpet, Ryan Jensen, and Tristan Wirfs - are either retired or injured long term. They can't run the ball at all and they can't protect long enough to throw downfield. Easy to defend when all you can do is throw short.

100% agree.

An elite OL can make ANY QB look better... whereas a porous OL will undermine any QB. That's exactly why I distrust any analysis of a QB that DOESN'T also analyse their OL.

3 wins in 12 days for the Bills all on the road. Nice 10 day rest to get some players back and make a final push for the AFC East.

It’s all ifs and buts, but there is a slight possibility that Kansas and Miami both lose this week, putting the Bills in first place.

Looking at the box score I almost wish I'd stayed up last night to watch it. The stats suggest a strong outing for Allen and a balanced offensive effort by Buffalo - no mean feat against a Belichik-coached D.

We held the ball for over 9 minutes in the 3rd and took away any momentum NE thought they might have been building. Some huge defensive plays as well, Poyer was unlucky with an interception that wasn’t given.

On Allen, I still don’t think his arm is right, hence the improvement/implementation of a running game more recently.

fair chance of that, 2 tough games for them

Miami v San Francisco looks like it could be a close game, particularly if the Miami defense can keep the 49ers running game under control. Big test for the Dolphins OL though, 49ers pass rush is really good.

Kansas must be heavy favourites against Cincinnati though. Chiefs OL is good enough to keep the Bengals pass rush at bay, whereas the Bengals' OL only has two functional pass protectors (Karras and Cappa). Chiefs DL will have Burrow under all kinds of pressure unless Cincinnati gets an early lead and runs the ball a lot.
