Cincinnati's defense started the game against Tampa missing their best DE (Hendrickson) their #1 CB (Awuzie) and their slot CB (Hilton). They then get torched in the first half by Tom Brady and lose their #2 DE (Hubbard) and another CB (Taylor-Britt) to injury.

How on earth they delivered a second-half performance that forced four turnovers and held Brady to one more TD is beyond me. I think that positional coaches and coordinators don't often get any recognition for the work they do, so I am full of praise today for Cincinnati's defensive coordinator Lou Anarumo. The adjustments he made at half time, not only to deal with Brady's offense but also the increasing number of injuries to his unit, were exceptional.

Just the Patriots, Bills and Ravens to go

Burrow and the Bengals look great, they just seem to have another level when they need it.

Cincinnati are definitely contenders but Tampa absolutely imploded as well

Great news to wake up to with the Giants winning overnight, keeping our playoff hopes alive. Indeed we can actually clinch a spot on Christmas Eve if either of the following scenarios happen

We beat the Vikings away, the Commanders lose to the 49ers and either the Seahawks lose to the Chiefs or the Lions lose at the Panthers

We beat the Vikings and both the Seahawks and Lions lose

I can see San Francisco beating Washington and Detroit beating Carolina. If the Chiefs keep building up their ground attack with McKinnon and Pacheco then they should handle the Seahawks well enough.

Your game against the Vikings should be a great matchup. I'm looking forward to it.

Oh yes, definitely. Problem is that it's not a winning strategy to require your opponents to implode in order to win!

Cincinnati needs some of these injured guys back healthy in time for the week 17 and 18 games against Buffalo and Baltimore, because the AFC North is on a knife edge.

You will be losing on Xmas Eve.

As a casual, what would you say is the more potent combo:

Quality QB + Average receivers

Or

Quality receivers + Average QB

Last few weeks I’ve seen some bananas plays from receivers, plucking contested balls out of the air for massive gains. Do the QBs get credit for putting the ball in range or are the receivers making poo passes look great?

You need a quality QB to maximise the receivers talents. Very rare for an average QB to go deep into the playoffs without a killer defense.
