Next Gen consoles - PS4/Xbox One

No way would I spend 600 on a console for the kids, there more games on the 360 for them right now anyway, there no games on either new consoles which sells the system yet either. There no need to buy a XBOX One right now for the children at Christmas.

Also, if you've d*cked around with PC's as long as some of us have then this section or AnandTech's comparison tells you most of what you want to know (about PS4 vs. XBO):

http://www.anandtech.com/show/7528/the-xbox-one-mini-review-hardware-analysis/2

Pleased to read that anandtech seem to pretty much concur with what I was saying - friend group, personal preference (and exclusive IP preference) are far more important than the tech specs, and those tech specs will make very little difference on the vast majority of titles.

They're both excellent systems that are both gonna do really well. People are likely to be very happy with whichever they end up with.

anyone know if fifa 14 stats will transfer from one console to the next, went from xbox 360 to ps4 and my ultimate team and seasons and pro clubs has reset.

oh sheet :(

there's a song thats called starting from the bottom now we here

im gonna have to change that to we reached the top now we at the bottom again..

i was in division 1 in both seasons and ut on xbox :(

got myself an xboxone at launch . infact ups delivered me 2 consoles :). i had to phone the bloke who one of them was for so he could come round and pick it up. he gave me a a pack of budweiser for being honest and not keeping it.... not that i would have kept it and not that i drink.

got to say im over the moon with it. kinect works like a dream and its completely silent despite being on and used all the time. all this talk of it being maxed out graphically is so laughable - its months behind the developments on ps4 . once its optimised and the dev kits are improved +the devs get used to the esram , there will be no difference in the quality between it and the ps4 imo.
i would say that if you are unsure its probably worth waiting 12 months before buying either console.

There will be difference between the consoles in the long term, just only on ps4 exclusives as the devs don't have to gimp anything for the Xbox one. you're deluding yourself if you think otherwise

the ps3 had to be gimped for for the 'power of the cell' did it not ?
now its flipped and ps4 is more straight forward to code for , yet xbox will be crap 'becouse it has to be gimped for' .
so was the ps3 crap on the same argument ?
the esram potential will lead to virtually no difference.
bookmark me on that if you like.
i spoke to a programmer who posts on digital foundry who was trying to explain it to me and from what he says his company are trying to go the esram root in the future for there kits. i dont fully understand it myself , but he was saying the latency between the cpu and gpu is greater with the dynamic ram. the small inclusion of static ram not only makes the communication between the 2 (gpu/cpu) better but it can read and write at the same time. so in theory not only is it cheaper for the same outcome but potentially faster. he said one is raw power , one is more clever , both will end up with the same result.

So, 6 months into having the new consoles, how's everyone finding theirs?

I'm really made up with my PS4, everything is so much faster and and better looking. Going back to use my ps3 now, the control pads feel like a kids toy and it jars how jaggy everything looks.

I wish there were a few more triple A games available, but this has given me opportunity to play games I maybe wouldn't have before. Games such as Octodad, Child of Light, Resogun and Contrast have all helped full in the gaps, and the first 3 of those are all fantastic games.

Infamous Second Son is a very good game, if not an amazing one. The graphics are gorgeous, and the game play is fun, but he story is a little anaemic as are the side missions.

My only other gripe's other than the lack of major exclusives is the rubber of the left analogue stick on both pads started wearing away after about a month, and there really isn't anything to do with the Playstation Camera yet.

The addition of the share factory for editing multiple clips together and adding captions and music is a welcome addition.

In other news, and he main reason for this bump, Microsoft have announced today that they'll be selling XBox One That doesn't come with Kinect soon, for $399 in America.

They've pretty much reversed everything they said they couldn't this time last year now. Crazy.

If the system has been built around Kinect from the ground up, you wonder how easily they'll be able to make the dashboard and other apps controller friendly. Also developers will probably be less likely to build in Kinect use age into games if its just another peripheral now.

Once I know a few more of the Xbox exclusives, I might consider purchasing a Kinect-less version especially if he price really drops in the UK. But it would have to have some really good exclusives (Titanfall doesn't really interest me) as all the 3rd party games seem to be performing better on the PS4 so far.

I can't wait to see what both companies have lined up for E3 in a couple of weeks.

Good that mate.

Love the ps4 too.

Agreed seems a little slow on games so far but will pick up soon.

Watch Dogs soon too.

I have heard a little E3 rumour if you'd like a spoiler?

Yeah Watchdogs is next on my list, then if nothing else is due out, I'll probably pick up the ps4 version of The Last Of Us, and give my ps3 copy to my brother.

E3 spoilers? Yes please ;)

Agree with this, the rubber has gone on mine.

Apparently you can get caps that for over them and give the he grip back, but I am yet to try them. I believe that Sony are offering replacement controllers as well, but just haven't been arsed sending mine back.
