I’m getting really close to being done with them .

If we’d hung on and won yesterday we’d have faced Chelsea as a team full of confidence going in the right direction and I think the crowd would have been right up for it . After the result yesterday I think we’re back to we’re we started , unhappy club and fan base . It’s just nightmare and like a lot of us I’m getting completely fed up with it

Your talking crap mate . . . . . . . . . . and you'll still be talking crap in 20 tears time.
It's just not that easy to say "I'm done with them"
I've come close over the years like, but 2 or 3 wins and you'll be as enthusiastic as ever. lol

I have to go into work with these biffs acting like they’ve won the league

All the local rags comparing the comeback and half time team talk to RS champions league

Not the massive club they think if middle table Everton is a cup final

On reflection re Saturday, and having watched the game in full, I think that the main problem was this...and Evertonians may not agree. I think that Silva was out-managed by Rafael. From half time Newcastle went to a flat back four, and this seemed to nullify our attacking options, making Bernard a lot less effective and having both our wingers forced to track back, leaving more room in the middle of the park for Newcastle to play their game. THey are on a roll at home and they play for each other, they always give themselves a chance. And they have got a large crowd behind them. Silva does not yet have enough of the right personel to counter when the opposition changes tactics...his subs are mostly like for likes and there is no one on the bench he can put on to change the way we play. Hopefully next season he will have. Rafael knows what hes doing and he posed questions that Silva could not answer. Mina getting on the pitch was a mistake, and pretty pointless.

Good post. The objectivity about Rafael is refreshing, he's a superb tactician that's won everything bar the prem.

The no. 1 thing that consistent guys like him deliver is confidence, that stems from his players trust, such is based on their own recognition of team (and self ) improvement based on a system. Your line about them playing for each other encapsulates all that, and is how west ham toppled us too. Better managers, better tactics.

We need leaders on the pitch too, mind. But they grow from clubs and managers giving them time to go through the cycle above. Our closest right now would be sigurdson. He's not that player, unfortunately. And Silva is not that manager.

Don't give in to sour grapes, man!

They've had it bad, huge club, ground, loyal fans, superb talent (Beardsley, shearer, ginola etc) and since then an owner who's destroyed them.

Its relative: we are an FA cup win for guys coming up from the championship. They feel how I felt when big dunc sorted out utd and Moyes was playing with fergie's watch!
When committed and good and team outweighs expensive and' better'.

We could well swap places before the season is finished. We're gutless and leaderless.

Wasn't able to watch the game as I was playing myself, but saw the last couple goals go in on bbc final score and watched MoTD. Were we good value for our 2-0 lead? Seems to me like even before their goals we were failing to cope with their tactics, and should have conceded earlier.

Joke of a game. After Pickford Tombstoned Rondon and then wiped his own mess up.
We should of easily put that game to bed, the crowd went silent and a lot of their fans went down the tunnel early before half time.
But no of course not the manager capitulated within himself and his changes played straight into their hands.
Our best counter attack option was brought off and Mina came on who then attempted a piledriver on Digne.

It's on Silva this game.

That fat goblin BFS was on Bein sports, saying Pickford wouldn't be allowed to get away with his behaviour and mistakes if he was still here. Although Id never want BFS near the club he has a point.

Thought that we looked like a fine team in the making during the first half, very positive indeed.

However, when the opposition starts to pile on the pressure in an attempt to get back into the game - since the Martinez era - we don't have the players to do the dirty work and roll up the sleeves. By this I mean that Bernard, Walcott, Lookman are great going forward but lack a lot defensively.

We should have a couple of full backs on the bench who can come on as subs and close down the wide areas, in support of Deign and Coleman, to stem the tide.

This particular match was more disappointing in that we were caught out by the direct approach of long balls into the edge of our box which caused chaos and goals to them - not really acceptable for a premiership defence..

Seen that.
Very bitter is sam.
Did he really think he was here for the long haul?
Biggest and best club job he ever had imo.

We did indeed and we should of put them to the sword, buts lots of good stuff we looked like the home team.

I agree we have no 'game managers' on the pitch as soon as it gets a bit tough the fold in half like a wet tea towel. Bernard gets stuck in and puts the effort it but he's easily muscled out the game defensively. The other two are touching on useless to be honest especially Walcott.

We had personnel on the bench like Mcarthy and even Schniederlin who could have sat in front on the back four and also provided cover on the flanks if need be but he brought Mina on and invited the pressure on us i.e the long balls you mentioned. All we had to do was retain possession and kill the game for 25 minutes.

I can see the idea of bringing on Mina to combat the long balls they were pumping up to Rondon BUT changing the way we play in the middle of the second half is ALWAYS potentially going to bring disaster. Its the sort of thing you do when you are 2-0 down not 2-0 up.
shniederlin for Richarlison was the right substitution there...... insanity!
Bernard was very good in the first half btw....

I can see that too but we already had two CB's on over 6'2 they should be fine for long balls.
I agree the shape completely went and the defence isolated with no out ball for the counter.
Yep him and Digne seem to be pairing up nicely.

He clearly isn't a long ball specialist. He is pragmatic and adapts accordingly to situations. Going direct in the second half was clearly effective so can't really be criticised. You can't compare a manager as decorated as Benitez to Allardyce. Absurd.
I did compare them though because the football was direct like Allardyce. If we had a centre back who could command a defence and head the ball it was simple football to deal with.
Benitez is like poch at tottenham. Everyone thinks the sun shines out there arse despite failure

Agreed. Apart from all of the trophies he's won he's exactly like poch and a failure
