New Everton Stadium - Hill Dickinson Stadium

It's interesting - think the reality of the travel situation is starting to hit home for a lot of people.

The first test event is round the corner, a good chunk of people have their new seats etc and it's becoming real.

Unfortunately, what's now happening is that people are starting to pay more attention to how they're going to get to/from the ground and the reality is that Sandhills looks like it will be utter chaos. No confirmation about any increase in the number of trains, a few crash barriers on a strip of tarmac to manage the huge increase in usage of the station. A 30 min (in all directions) no parking zone and some vague talk of regular shuttle buses into town.

Getting to the ground might not be too bad, but it feels like getting away is going to be ridiculous and for a lot of people a 30 min+ walk into town will be option that ends up being the least worst.

I'm surprised that anyone is surprised tbh. The transport plan has been available since the planning application. There is nothing new in the latest announcements. The plan was always about proximity to both Sandhills and the city centre..... and some fairly vague references to shuttle buses (and Shank's Pony)..... oh and they want at least 32k to use public transport. Presumably because they've modelled pre and post match traffic and they know any more cars than that will gridlock the whole area.

That is absolutely appalling. As a ST holder he’s paid in advance for the games. And they’ve got the profit in advance. What difference does it make to them if he goes to the game or not. What a world 🙄.
The way they look at it if your not going to the game, you`re not buying a program and spending money at the ground. And they probably see that there are more than enough folks wanting to go to OT that they`ll make more money selling tickets on a game to game basis rather than as a season ticket. Just an example of the club trying to squeeze the last few quid that they can get from supporters.

Is there much difference in the size of Sandhills station to the station at Aintree? For the National meeting there`s 3 days where crowds between 50 to 80k get to and from the race course and the station seems to handle it well.

Been saying we needed a monorail for nearly 10 years!

Everyone knows public transport is non existent there. Everton Stadium is the kick start to Liverpool Waters, Peel should be smashing down Rotheram's door telling him to sort it out.
Beats me why this hasn't been considered ..... Airport - Town Centre - Stadium - poss further ?

Aintree is quite spacious compared to Sandhills. There are 2 seperate platforms and a footbridge but only a single island platform at Sandhills and only one access for both directions. Not ideal.

That bitter RS Rotherham behind all this I'm guessing?🙄
I have emailed Rotherham a couple of times over the last few years asking what is the transport plan. Always get a politicians answer Saying it is being worked in and that it will be revealed closer to the stadium. After seeing the video about Sandhills I have asked is this the grand transport plan ... A few temporary barriers to coral supporters into 🤣🤣🤣. I have emailed him again Asked him how will he be getting supporters to and from the ground, buses bendy buses???
To give some due he does respond to emails sent him. So will see what he comes up with. Personally think all blues should be emailing him asking about the plans for transport

They do make a few quid selling you your season ticket in the first place.
Plenty of folks who can`t make a few games a season might pass their ticket on to a friend or family member, and having a card makes this an easy process. But I get why they want to make it harder because of there`s a good number that`ll take advantage and sell on their ticket for the derby and United games and get the price of their season ticket back.
I share my season ticket, I have 10 games and a mate has 9, works well for us, last couple of seasons I've had the card and he has the digital..not sure how next season will work but am guessing will need to transfer to him under friends and family on a game by game basis

I think that they put more trains on but I could be wrong. Did see in the echo that they are trialling 8 carriage trains on the Liverpool Southport line. It is 4 at the moment. Maybe that is part of the transport plan

I don't know how many people use Merseyrail for the National tbh. I think a lot come from out of town on coach trips too. The only time I've been it was fairly chaotic. That said, I think people will tolerate inconvenience for rare or special events like an annual race-day or a cup final at Wembley, but most would be less tolerant if their regular matchday experience was very inconvenient..... with people leaving early to avoid traffic or bus/train Queues etc.

The Key with BMD is proximity to town and all the transport hubs etc. I think there are solutions but the transport plan at present doesn't seem to cover them adequately. The test events will at least allow them to measure some of those factors....and give the fans the chance to get their bearings too.
