It's about 18 years now since the first Johnson proposal for that idea for a stadium near the M57.
Since then we've had King's Dock, Destination Kirkby, various other proposed sites and now WHP. Still nothing. Still the same excuse. Each proposal has been backed by supporters and each time the board have failed to deliver.
What the board is doing is actually worse than doing nothing because their actions get fans' hopes up and makes it look like the issue is being addressed. Which despite all the bluster and spending of money such as the £4m wasted on Kirkby, it isn't, at least not seriously; i.e with secured funding.
Bill should really have gone after Kings Dock, which was one of the most embarrassing episodes in EFC history. That was the point at which many of us turned against him and his cronies because it was then apparent that he did not and never would have the wherewithal to deliver on the stadium issue and the resultant progress that would have ensued. Instead we have fallen further and further behind and if it wasn't for a certain Mr
Moyes would be in the Championship by now.
Bill needs to admit that we won't have a new stadium until there is a buyer willing to invest properly. That means that the club would have to be sold cheaply in order to make it an attractive proposal to potential investors. He should do the honourable thing and sell up, and be remembered for doing something positive for EFC rather than presiding over a legacy of failure on the stadium issue.
He'd still get his money back.
