We were always gonna struggle to fill the ground every game, it was a big enough jump, never mind the fact that loads were moaning they wanted an extra 10,000 plus. The issue is that £65/70 is a ridiculously high step-up for general sale/admission seats, NOT that £40-45 is too low for a season tkt seat.
They've tried to test the general sale demand by really squeezing that market, and they struggle to sell out at the resale/GA prices, even during the honeymoon period with "new-stadium-effect" interest levels. Seat Unique have also had to dramatically reduce their prices for some games, as a result mates of mine got seat unique tickets at similar prices to GA tkts, but in one of the cheaper lounges! I assume that they may well want to negotiate new terms to their deal asap. There isn't a bottomless pit of fans waiting to fill this stadium at ridiculous ticket prices, and if they're failing to fill the ground in the first season, then without real success on the pitch, the subsequent seasons could be much worse if they don't address their pricing strategy and the ease of ST transfer issues (and all of that is before you even consider the numbers of fans already priced out).
Of course, the other factors such as public transport for people with mobility issues etc are having their effects too, and will also need to be addressed with some urgency if those fans are not to be lost. Much of that might be categorised as teething problems, but the pricing/ticketing strategy could be indicative of slightly more insidious motives, if they persist. If this fella's article is not just representative of anecdotal evidence, but actually indicative of a seismic drop-off in season ticket renewals and the waiting list vanishes after one season, then that should be a major concern.... because that surplus demand holds up the whole economic sustainability of the stadium.
Hopefully they realised how bad an idea Seat Unique was or at least the way they have executed it. Poor planning.
