New Everton Stadium - Hill Dickinson Stadium

The interesting part about this article is the cost complaint as the author seems to suggest ongoing attendance through resale however I know a number of blues using the ballot and resale process that are desperate for seats at the season ticket average price, any suggestion of a season ticket going for face value is snapped up in our supporters club.

Resale are sold at £65/70 a seat by the club where we pay £40 a game for 19 matches. We expect a lot all at once as fans. Things are improving in my experience game by game and I can’t wait for the upcoming home fixtures and better weather!

The issue is that £65/70 is a ridiculously high step-up for general sale/admission seats, NOT that £40-45 is too low for a season tkt seat.

They've tried to test the general sale demand by really squeezing that market, and they struggle to sell out at the resale/GA prices, even during the honeymoon period with "new-stadium-effect" interest levels. Seat Unique have also had to dramatically reduce their prices for some games, as a result mates of mine got seat unique tickets at similar prices to GA tkts, but in one of the cheaper lounges! I assume that they may well want to negotiate new terms to their deal asap. There isn't a bottomless pit of fans waiting to fill this stadium at ridiculous ticket prices, and if they're failing to fill the ground in the first season, then without real success on the pitch, the subsequent seasons could be much worse if they don't address their pricing strategy and the ease of ST transfer issues (and all of that is before you even consider the numbers of fans already priced out).

Of course, the other factors such as public transport for people with mobility issues etc are having their effects too, and will also need to be addressed with some urgency if those fans are not to be lost. Much of that might be categorised as teething problems, but the pricing/ticketing strategy could be indicative of slightly more insidious motives, if they persist. If this fella's article is not just representative of anecdotal evidence, but actually indicative of a seismic drop-off in season ticket renewals and the waiting list vanishes after one season, then that should be a major concern.... because that surplus demand holds up the whole economic sustainability of the stadium.

I am a Village St member and have just received an invitation to join a waiting list for other premium membership options in the ground.

I think they may be testing the water with regard to some of the seat unique seats and seeing if they can be sold to season ticket members and bring new permanent ones in rather than one off “tourists”.

They need a serious rethink on the membership requirement to buy home tickets as the current approach is not working and hundreds of seats are not being sold when there is demand.

Maybe also considering concessions for kids in some of these premium spaces.

Appreciate reasons why they may not want to do this, but would open them up to other permanent options.

I looked at the corporate on the build up to it, and with no concession for kids when drinks included, I thought they are going to be some expensive fruit shoots

I know what you mean but you would be surprised by the number of kids who I’ve seen in Village St.

I think they maybe one off purchases for a birthday treat or Xmas present as it would be ridiculously expensive as a season ticket.

Thats a very good idea

I suppose that's subjective. Some people prefer a lot of elevation others not.

I honestly think if the club break a few tins of blue paint out in the summer this issue can largely be put to rest. 🤷‍♂️

Someone mentioned earlier the paint will often peel etc.

Would probably be better with plastic cladding or something.

Apologies, missed this somehow. I don't really have a single favourite, but coincidentally, I'm hoping to go to Athletico Madrid's stadium (and a few others) in a few weeks. I used to really like the old Calderón stadium, so hopefully the new one is even better. It certainly looks the part. I've always liked the Spanish stadia generally, the influence of the traditional bullring architecture, stacking people on top of the action etc... The Bernabeu is breathtaking in both scale and function and took some beating even before they refurbished it. Now it's levels above most European stadia imo. The Mestalla, Ramon Sanchez-Pizjuan, Villamarin have that intensity too..... and the San Mames (old and new too. Obviously, in Italy the San Siro is similarly breathtaking although lacking in some modern standards. As an experience, the Bombonera and Monumental are absolute assaults on the senses. I'm also really intrigued by US baseball parks. I don't know anything about the sport,
but the comparison with old, modern and retro designs has always fascinated me.... Wrigley field is a gem, reminds me of Goodison and is probably my favourite of that genre. Tbh..... I could list dozens more for differing reasons, but I wouldn't want to be accused of writing excessively long articles ;).

Thanks Tom, although they're owned by our neighbours organisation Fenway park looks good for what they've done with it.

I saw a picture of the old Yankee stadium and I thought it was the new one. Cost a fortune too.

Bernebeu is incredible inside, I remember playing fifa as a kid thinking the top tiers must be fake. The engineering for the pitch change is incredible. Literally built a cave to process it.

Don't like what they've done with the outside though myself, not very architecturally friendly imo.

one of the reasons for increased night games is that theres no premier league fixtures scheduled on fa cup weekends except semis, when there used to be premier league matches played during 5th and 6th rounds

those games would then be rearranged for april or may, a much more enjoyable time to go to a midweek game, and often setting up intrigue later in the season

in fact two of the more famous goodison nights in its final decade where because of this. the palace game to keep us up, and the dcl derby.

both would have been scheduled for a november, january, february or early march midweek fixture this year

the reason for this is to give more prevelance to the fa cup supposedly, yet every game is behind a pay wall, and the final takes place before the premier league finishes, and with games taking place on the sunday

only one ticket available on the website for chelsea

thousands available for burnley and the like

been to every home game this season yet when it comes to this ballot in the derby id have no better chance than any other punter who couldnt be bothered with those fixtures
