New Everton Stadium - Hill Dickinson Stadium

“We’ve been engaging supporters on what they want from this stadium since 2016, so there’s a sense of ownership over it,” adds Parker-Myers.
We didn’t brand that consultation as Everton. This was a stadium for the city of Liverpool and it was about removing the tribalism that football brings.”

Certainly feels like a bit of revisionism here, it’s even a pretty contradictory statement tbh. All the consultation I recall was very much EFC orientated and I’m pretty certain if there was an option in to reduce the tribalism at the stadium there would have been outrage at the thought of it
She must be a Kopite.

I think we have to consider the context, mainly, being the article source.

It's basically a sponsored ad in an industry publication targetting promoters. I wouldn't be surprised if it's a sponsored/paid for piece. Maybe they've felt there's some strength in leveraging City of Liverpool over Everton.

Ah I recall that article now.

The key point;

“For concerts, we’ll be able to host between 45,000 and 48,000 fans,”

As I said before, 62,000 was at Anfield for Taylor Swift.

Now, check out the cost of a ticket and do the maths and imagine you're a promoter.

Little wonder they're talking up the use of the outside space.

It's worth pointing out that she didn't precisely answer this question (regardless of the author claiming she 'thinks so'):

Q/ 'But can Bramley-Moore Dock compete with neighbouring Anfield, which has hosted the likes of Taylor Swift, Elton John and P!nk? Everton FC’s head of events Suzie Parker‑Myers thinks so.'

A/ “For concerts, we’ll be able to host between 45,000 and 48,000 fans,” says Parker‑Myers, who is overseeing the stadium’s programming and leading engagement with top promoters."

The likes of Sam Fender or Robbie Williams (doing -50K stadium next year on his tour). Maybe the type of bands they have for the On the Waterfront Pier Head gigs - Paul Weller someone like that.

Everton will have to kick off with this category for the stadium gigs. The plaza is another matter.

'Blue Wall' / 'Mersey Fortress' / 'Banks of the Royal Blue Mersey' - it's that tribalism we were all seduced by.

Apparently the club were listening more intently to clueless bread-heads who told them to project this stadium as a neutral cash machine.

I've said it umpteen times mate: there's going to be a reckoning here shortly. That British Gas spiv better get his tin hat on.

Parker-Myers concludes: “It’s not necessarily about competing with Anfield. We actually want to complement them. This city’s togetherness is what makes Liverpool special. And ultimately, that’s why a stadium on the waterfront of Liverpool belongs to the city as much as Everton.”

I dont want to be a misery arse, I've just long felt we need to temper expectations around concerts at the new stadium. We'll get a few but others in the region have a very obvious advantage.

...yes, exactly: we were sold a pup on that.

As long as increased revenue lands in our pocket through increased spending power, I’m not too bothered about the profile raising generated by the stadium marketing. I agree that the stadium needs much more Evertoning than what it currently has but I’d much rather us raise our profile by what we do on the pitch e.g. longer domestic cup runs, regular European football, exciting football, which will hopefully be enabled by the increased revenue / spending.
