It wouldn't work, you can't have a station that close, for a train to travel such a short journey it would have to go too slow, stopping distances on trains are a lot longer then cars and buses.
Plus the economic side won't work, millions to build a new station because a few 1000 are too lazy to walk an extra 300 yards, it's not happening

The current economic argument is weak and BMD alone wont change that. Will take a massive increase in residential buildings to change that so decades off. Btw Rice Lane & Orrell Park are closer than Sandhills would be say to Love Lane. However imo a new station won't address crowds as its the size of trains and limitations of train frequency along that track that can only address that.
