Obviously I have no idea whether it's true or not, but it fits both with how we played under him in many games, and with what others have said about his management style. It's not really a huge leap of faith to believe it.
While Ancelotti and Guardiola stand as two of the most successful managers in world football, Thiago insists there are both differences and similarities between the two men.
'Both as players and coaches they won everything. They have the peace of mind of those who know what the players think because they have been there,' Thiago told
El Pais in an interview prior to Bayern Munich's looming clash with Real Madrid.
'But they have a different character. They are great coaches with totally different ways of watching football.
'With Ancelotti there is freedom. More than strategy or tactics, it's the freedom and confidence that a coach can give you,' he added.
While Thiago was schooled at the La Masia academy of Barcelona and is synonymous with the well-drilled, disciplined and regimented football of the set-up, he admits that the freedom under Ancelotti is giving him a new lease of life.
'He (Ancelotti) gives you freedom so that you can hold yourself accountable.
