….I as a regular at Bellefield back in the day & I recall Mick Lyons blasting the ball at him from no more than 6 yards & Southall saving them. He was unbelievable, certainly the best keeper I ever saw.
I remember Pat Nevins book and him stating that Nev would do entire sessions without using his hands, flying up to the top corner to head the ball away
The clip is brilliant, hope it also focuses on him past football and the brilliant advocacy he does.

He was by far and away the best keeper I ever saw and I saw Banks, Yashin, Shilton, Schmiekel etc. None of them as good as Nev. Mind you I saw Nev make some howlers as well, just a part of being a keeper, no matter how good you are.

Apparently it's a three part series, John Toshack is the first episode, so Nev will be on on either of the following two weeks. I'll keep my eye open, but that doesn't mean much nowadays with the state of my memory. lol

I watched saves he made live completely dumbstruck, and then over and over again, probably thousands of times and I still can't believe he got to some of them.
An honour and a privilege to have seen him at his best.
