Aww c'mon, everyone enjoys a little champagne socialism with their gutterpiss football.

I've always disliked that phrase , if somebody is a socialist and happy to pay a higher proportion of their own wealth to help others I don't understand why it's something to be criticised or mocked . It's about having a social conscience and responsibility surely ?
If somebody paints themselves as a socialist or liberal but hides a fortune offshore or in dodgy movie schemes then absolutely they deserve criticism but having earned wealth but being happy to use some of it to support the less fortunate is aureky something to be applauded ?
I always thought champagne socialist was about someone claiming or hs been working class and ocne they get the money mixing with the upper class etc but still trying to claim to be working class and one of the people?
Again i may be wrong it was phrase used long before i was born
I've always thought it was just a lazy insult trotted out by the right when they don't want to engage with the actual issue.I've always disliked that phrase , if somebody is a socialist and happy to pay a higher proportion of their own wealth to help others I don't understand why it's something to be criticised or mocked . The alarming thing is, in his own mind his tweets make perfect sense.
To everyone else it's like the bizarre ramblings of a mad man.
Stay safe big Nev. Hope Reidy and the likes look out for him.
I love Nev.
I've never made any secret that his political ideology is similar to mine, and he's the best goalie there's ever been.
Privileged to see him play for us many times. Best player I've ever seen actually.
He's just using slightly unusual similes as a way of framing the reasonable, and much shared, points he's making.
Alarming? Bizarre? Mad? Such strong language suggests an overly strait-laced view of the norm.
tories outing themselves all over the shop here
Oh I do apologise Claus, how silly of me.
Let me take 20 lashings from the cat 'o nine tales.
