Just putting this on the record right now.

We have certain posters on here claiming to be fans of Everton but if Patterson leaves the club they will stick the knife into Everton.

Just remember this.

Our own fans stick the knife into Everton all the time. By not supporting our own players, it’s sticking the knife in as they then want them to fail to ensure they were right.

Just wait and see, hints of it the past few weeks.

I'd like Patterson to be a success and had high hopes but after nearly 2 years we have seen only a handful of performances and a lack of progress compared to the likes of Branthwaite who we can all admit looks a player at a similar age.

Some people will point the blame at Dyche for not starting him, but him and his staff see him on a daily basis and don't deem he good enough to start for Everton.

The ideal solution for all parties would be a loan deal in January in the Championship or abroad and he gets a good run of 15-20 starts on the run. Coleman is back soon and he will be more than likely the 3rd choice rightback unfortunately.

I think he has a high ceiling. But I also think he has been misused. He probably should have had a loan when he first joined, like Coleman did, like branthwaite essentially did. He wasn’t given that luxury and came into a relegation scrapping team.

He probably should have been used as a RW when we have struggled for wingers. Like Coleman was for 2 seasons even after his loan.

I think part of Dyches decision making is having a youth player in Branthwaite already starting every game, and want experience around him. (Especially when you think that Myko is also relatively young and not vastly PL experienced either).

I just hate the vitriol a young player gets when he hasn’t been afforded the same opportunities such as loans, and is in and out the team, signed under 1 manager and has had 2 others since.

And there is an agenda by certain posters. and so myself and others get defensive. Because it’s blatant at this point. One of them hasn’t made a post since Monday, but came on to have a dig about Patterson last night despite clearly not even watching the game. Hasn’t made another post since.

….I just don’t get comments like this.

Posters form opinions on players and post them on a fans forum. I’m sure we’d all be delighted if Patterson was proving to be the real deal but he’s been disappointing and surely it’s perfectly reasonable to say that.

He has been. I admit that as well. He has been disappointing. Some go way over the top on that though. (Including holding that view before he even signed for us which has already been evidenced in this thread)

Yes he’s had some disappointing moments alongside some good ones, started poorly v WHU but then got to grips with the game and did okay, he has never had a consistent run in the team being kept out by Young but being honest Young has had two good games lately including the Brighton game when he scored an own goal, so Patterson will continue to learn the more games he gets and I think he has a very good chance of being Everton’s right back in the future.

….I was very keen on bringing him in, I watched him for Scotland and he showed promise. I thought he’d be ideal for the transition from Coleman but now I actually understand why he rarely starts games.

Perhaps you could explain why as hes not been worse than Young...

….I don’t think there’s an awful lot in it, Zat, so it’s not as though I’m a massive Young fan. I certainly think Young is the better defender from a conventional RB perspective, I feel less nervous when he plays, he reads the game better and less crosses tend to come in from that flank.

Patterson had a great opportunity to make that spot his own but he failed to do so. We all wanted him to be the answer but I doubt it will happen now and I can see us bringing in a RB next summer.

I dont see any reality where Young is better in any way.

Hes a walking yellow card and while Patterson has had some ropey beginnings in some games hes mostly held his own at worst.

Young I feel is going to be destroyed every game.

….its all down to opinion, Dyche must think similar to me but it’s not something I’d die in a ditch about. We‘ll need to bring in an effective 1st choice RB next season.

So another embarrassing defensive performance then.

No wonder Dyche won't play him.

I don't think the article was slating Nathan Patterson for his whole performance, just more for the way he defended when Georgia scored their second goal. To be fair to you though, it would appear that he didn't have the best of games, which was probably partly due to his lack of game time, as well as picking up a yellow card within the first ten minutes and then having to contend with Khvicha Kvaratskhelia for the rest of the match trying not to receive a second yellow.

The lad may not be Danny McGrain but I don't think he's as bad as a lot of people try making him out to be. Hopefully, he'll get another go on Sunday, when Scotland face Norway, as he does need to be playing more.
