Naismith 3 year extention

If I was looking for a player that was poor tonight I would look at Mirallas before Naismith. Naismith started poorly but became more effective as the game went on and scored. Mirallas was just poor.

Agree Mirallas was very poor, Naismith came and went for me in the game, some times OK but other times Ugh.

Yep spot on. Naismith was awful for 38 minutes. Then scores a peach of a goal and really chased, harried, simplified things to try and get in better positions. That goal was massive for us.

Problem with naismith is that any time a fan wants to be critical of him he pops up and scores and the argument of 'only he could have done that' comes into play.

for the record i think he is a terrible footballer. for what he does well warrants a place in the squad but the lad cant pass, cant run very fast when facing the goal and can't tackle. If he didnt pop up with a goal every now and again then he'd offer nothing.

Poor footballer, the type we should be looking to replace with better.

But he does have his uses, especially during such a tough season like this, his workrate has come in extremely useful. Is good on the 1 on 1 finishing too

He is a brilliant squad player coming off the bench for me at best. Not in a starting 11 for a team vying for a European place. Hence one of the reasons we are where we are this season.

His best attributes are movement and finishing, plays too deep at times imo, he's a penalty box player, should be pushed up alongside lukaku playing off him
Finishing ?? lol

Not for me. He scores a few goals but christ almighty do those in row Z get a glimpse of the ball.

His best attribute is his work rate and thats where the line is drawn. For me at least, this lad is a total liability and completely contradicts everything a footballing side tries to do. For a team that is possession based i find it incredible how he consistently finds a way into the starting 11.

No pace, no first touch, his passing is abysmal, no vision and his decision making is a shambles. I've lost count at how many times we have broke and countered and literally hoped in my head that Naismith is not involved in the move.

Sorry mate, each to their own and that but you're being a bit harsh imo. His finishing is good, yes I can recall a few snapshots that he has put over the bar (who hasn't, I can certainly recall a few that Rom has been wayward with) one on one though he rarely misses, he's a cool finisher in those situations. I hear what you're saying about passing, control etc but his off the ball movement is very good, and his work rate is excellent. If played in the correct position (centre forward) then he can do a job. Not sure exactly how many goals he has this season? Must be our 2nd top scorer though? He's been playing mainly out of position all season as well

With the risk of getting splinters, I find myself right in the middle of both your opinions.

I don't think he's a player we should be looking to have in our starting 11 but definately one to keep in the squad for now. His workrate and willingness to run off the ball even out his poor passing and vision. Hes a player you want to be playing against the weaker teams.
