Sack Sky and donate to GOT...donations are needed
I would like to pay my respects to all those young footballers who so sadly perished in this air crash. These islands were robbed of talent that would have graced any team in the world.

Back in 1958 rivalries were not so heated, people enjoyed life so much more, they had little but made it go a long way following the war time rationing. I well remember hearing the TV newsflash, we interrupt this programe to....long before the days of instant messaging news slowly filtered through that some had actually survived,it was thought all on board had perished.

Every football club in the land paid their respects to those Utd players, clubs chipped in and lent Utd players to enable them to fulfill their seasons fixtures it was that bad. Most importantly ALL of football genuinely mourned their passing

In this modern era some use the deaths of these talented men to taunt Utd, in fairness their fans used other tragedies to taunt back, people died, young lives snuffed out and at the time people cried in the streets at their funerals. My respect is based on what my era would have expected and therefore what I believe is due

May they all rest in peace and enjoy playing matches above with Dixie, Labby, Bally, Keith Newton and all the other late blues, it would be one hell of a game.

RIP to all of them

to remember them for their successes and to respect their talents unduely cut short, to honour their memory like all fans respect their own club heroes is to pay according respect to the individuals that tragically passed away that day.

i dont like the man utd animal in its current guise, but, like goodison celebrated the life of george when he passed, it is proper to acknowledge those at that time who had so much of life in front of them and never got to fulfill it.

may they rest in peace and the proper behaviour be shown throughout the country this weekend.

100% agree with you Suits

I was a young kid at the time and watched the news with my dad and he said it was a loss to football not just united and how he wished he taken me to see Duncan Edwards which was praise cos my dad usually only praised guys in royal blue, even when I was younger I could never understand the morons singing the Munich song I will be watching that game on sky and even at home I will observe the minutes silence sadly in todays supporters I fear some moron will shout something.

Duncan Edwards would have been in the 66 WC squad without any doubt along with Pegg and Colman.

Funnily enough I have no respect whatsoever for Charlton. He gained so much sympathy following pictures of him in his hospital bed yet the same guy refused to go to the bedside of his dying mother although she begged him, that is just shocking. Jack didn't speak to him for years he was so upset

Pure tragidy, lets hope the anniversary pases respectfully!

Prob not the place for it but you have to wonder about the premier leauge and the fixtures with this in mind!

It should be honoured across all football, but it won't and some how clapping seems totally inappropriate

First and foremost, RIP for all the lives lost during this disaster.

Secondly, Man U have manged to really, really come out badly from this.

With the 50th anniversary of the Munich aircrash approaching, Manchester United have managed to get themselves into a row after trying to charge £5,000 for footage of the memorial service.

Only MUTV cameras will be allowed at the event, which is being held tomorrow in an Old Trafford suite, and the BBC are furious after being told that they must pay for pictures from the service.

Eight of the Busby Babes were killed in the crash along with three club officials and there is a suggestion in the Daily Mail that Manchester United are trying to cash in on the biggest tragedy in the club's history.

Fans of the club were angered recently after a Munich mural, put up at Old Trafford in memory of those lost, contained club sponsor AIG's logo. The mural was recently paint-bombed.

Officials of the club have claimed that the fee they are demanding is retaliation
for the £3,500 that the BBC charged MUTV for their share of the TV rights of George Best's funeral.

However, after the row this has caused and how fans have responded to such behaviour over a sensitive issue, David Gill has claimed that the club will no longer be charging a fee for the TV rights.

"Notwithstanding the fact that the BBC charged MUTV for pictures of the George Best funeral, the board of MUTV have decided to provide live pictures of the 50th anniversary memorial service free of charge," Gill told the Daily Mail via email.

A BBC spokesperson said, "We can confirm we are taking footage of the memorial service from MUTV and we are pleased to be able to bring coverage of this even to BBC viewers."

Such a row over tragic events such as the Munich aircrash and the death of arguably the club's greatest-ever player is pathetic to say the least and does not bode well for the reputations of either Manchester United or the BBC.

It is disgusting they have gotten into a petty quarrel with the BBC and are using the memorial as the vessel for this. Also, to put AIG onto the memorial mural...sickening. AIG have NOTHING to do with the disaster and their name should have nothing to do with any part of the memorial. Man U have made me sick over this.

Couldn't just let it be about remembrance.......

Expertly ruined the day, commercialism of this type stinks from both parties.

Let the fans remember in peace and in dignity, it is the deaths of highly talented people that should be mourned and not the debit and credit sides of bank accounts. This scenario could not be more distasteful

RIP

Respect

Well said,

I tried to register on a Manu fanzine to offer my respects but was refused registration; I can only imagine due to my username. Shame really that they have to employ such measures. They must get a lot of abuse from sad bigots who attach themselves to football clubs such as ours.
I listened to sportsweek on BBC 5 live and was touched by the poise of those involved when retelling the awful events in Munich. Any decent person will show their respects but I'm sure some scum will show themselves for what they are. I just hope they don't attach themselves to our club.

Welcome mate, that is an excellent first post. Any of that crowd coming on here are simply shown the door, normally our membership mince them first thank god, our society needs more respect for everything and everyone, we should set that example

that battle with the bbc was coming from a mile away, manure and taggart were both burned in the panorama expose. he will retire before he goes cap in hand to the bbc, conversely he has upped his appearance rate on sky.

bit naughty the bbc charging bests club for funeral pics, would have thought someone had the foresight to evaluate potential problems related to that decision further down the line.

I just hope the Swiss game goes off without the odd idiot shouting something stupid, respect(y)

I watched Harry Gegg on the tv tonight and now hold him in the highest esteem it actually brought tears to my eyes if only today's players where like him a point that stuck out was when he met some one who helped with the rescue and Harry said a lot of people that were not there wrote books and how disappointed he was that united have played there over the years but never gone to the site of the crash all moving stuff
