If true that looks likely to be one bell of a bargain - the lid has looked ace in preseason
I think it's true, the highest bet I've read about was 3 mill EUR by Swansea but because Mo's attitude for the club it was up to him to chose, that was told before WC by our president. They respected him whatever he chooses even if it means we get less money from it. So it seems he chose Everton despite Swansea's more money from which contract he could also got more regarding to his contract with our club.

I thought he was unlucky not to get on today, thought he could of replaced either Barry or McCarthy once the lids had their yellow cards . That was around 70mins, surprised it didn't happen

I thought so too, but at least he could feel the atmosphere and thats good for a start. Maybe he'll got 10-15 minutes at Goodison against Arsenal. You'll have a tough season so I'm sure at first he'll got more playtime at League Cup matches and easier EL matches and it's right that way. On the other hand he needs some time to play because of the EC qualifiers coming up at Sept. so it's quite hard to find the perfect balance between fitting in and also playing.

I remember Shearer going to Newcastle for 15 Million and it being considered a collossal sum. Now Shane Long goes for 12. I shudder to think how much Shearer would go for these days

I can remember us breaking the British transfer record by paying £2.2 million for Cottee, just eight years before Shearer moved to Newcastle.

There's inflation, and then there's football inflation...

He looked so focused at the game when the camera panned to him on the bench. I am glad Martinez is not throwing him into the fire but is easing him in.

What with Barkley now a long term injury, maybe he'll use McCarthy more as the pivot for the attack and Barry and Mo as the two who sit deep? McCarthy's passing is certainly good enough - maybe like the role Arteta used to play.

He used Pienaar for that today, but Pienaar has other uses.

Cracking atmosphere today btw - it's good to be back underway even with the late equaliser.

@Hungariansupporter Thanks so much for coming on and giving us the insight from Ferencváros - it is really interesting.

For what I have seen of Besic he's too good with the ball to be just a DM mopping up trouble.

I'd like to give him a go at pulling the strings as a CM, he's a legend in the making is this lad, too good to be sitting on the bench.

Besic had the brightest pre season yet never came on for the tiring Barry - that puzzled me or even when McCarthy looked to be badly injured!
we lack a lot of pace in midfield losing RB!
