Moyes still looking to do some business

Don't agree with your point about left back. Distin and Baines have both been available for the vast majority of games over the last few seasons, neither is particularly injury prone. Distin provides decent cover for Baines, if it's needed, and Neville provides cover for Distin in the unlikely event that both Distin and Baines should be unavailable. If such an eventuality actually occurred it would likely be for 1 or 2 games maximum.

I agree that we definitely need squad players to make up the numbers, but I don't see that LB is a 'priority' at all, given that we have a pretty much identical situation at the right back position but with lesser players in Hibbert and Neville (Baines and Distin > Hibbert and Neville).

I see what you're getting at, but I think by not bolstering the depth at LB now we are just storing up trouble for the future. I take your point that Baines and Distin are a better combo than Hibbert and Neville.

On the right we have Coleman getting regular game time in the EPL, albeit not at RB but at least he's playing. Conversely on the left Garbutt does not get a sniff of top-level exposure. In a year's time we could be looking at European football of one type or another, meaning MORE games for Distin and Neville who will both be approaching 36. I am a huge Distin fan, but his continued performance at this age is the exception rather than the norm and therefore as depth at LB he and Neville are short-term only.

Furthermore, no-one's pursuing Hibbert in quite the same predatory fashion as certain clubs are Baines. If Garbutt breaks into the first-team squad by Christmas then fine, but otherwise what do we do when Distin and Neville retire, which could easily be announced in the next 18 months?

PS Only saw Lallana on MOTD, but he looked promising. Bit early to judge though!

He is rumoured to be going to Man u, as they put a low bid in for him and was rejected so Man u have their eyes on him.

Fair enough, we can't really compete with them, he would do well there as well I reckon.

I'd love him alongside Gibson though, with Fellaini in front of him.

I think that left back would become a priority if/when we face the problems you suggest, i.e. neville/distin retiring, baines leaving the club. Maybe if Moyes thought that Baines is going to leave in the next couple of weeks or in January then he should have a back up ready. Hopefully that's not the case though.

Everton manager David Moyes says he is still looking to do business in the transfer market: "I think we have a good team, with a strong bench, but if we lose one or two, we will be short. We will, if we can, try to add one or two. If we do not, I will still be happy."

I think he has a couple of secrets up his sleeves... This next week will be very interesting... I hope he tries to get Biglia, he is class and would fit into our team really well, similar to how Arteta used to play..

I think that you are spot on.

Biglia is similar to Banega that DM was rumoured to be interested in. Also interesting to note that Biglia was lined up for Norwich but that's gone quiet.

Perhaps he is waiting on a better option.

One thing is for sure we need another central midfielder.

If we miss out on Niang I've got a feeling that Moyes will make a quick decisive move for someone like Ince or Zaha

I like Moyes, but would never use words like quick an decisive to describe his transfer dealings. I doubt he'll move for anyone before the end of the transfer window whom he doesn't already have a dossier of information on and has watched, or had watched, many a time. I used to view his dithering as a negative, and no doubt we've missed out on a few because of it, but ultimately it's the right thing to do when you have limited resources and rely heavily on character/morale amongst a small group of existing players.

I think I heard someone say on the football league show say that the chairman said Ince and Phillips are not for sale
