Twp separate statements there mate, and one of them is scary wrong.
Distin did a great job covering at LB - yes
Our best CB is left-footed and faster than a greased-up bolt of lightning, so we don't need any other cover at LB? - hell no.

Currently our only cover at LB on match days is Distin and Neville, both of whom usually start in other positions. No cover at all off the bench. So if Baines gets a red card or goes off injured AFTER Distin and Neville have subbed off, what then? And what happens in the next game, When Jags and Heitinga start in the middle and Distin goes to LB? Then your only LB cover is Neville. How many games do you REALLY want a couple of 34/35 year olds playing in a season?

Backup LB and another CM are the priorities now, presuming we all view Osman and Barkley as attacking mids. Every year we say our starting eleven is a match for most teams but depth lets us down.... addressing that means bolstering the positions in which we have the least depth.

Don't agree with your point about left back. Distin and Baines have both been available for the vast majority of games over the last few seasons, neither is particularly injury prone. Distin provides decent cover for Baines, if it's needed, and Neville provides cover for Distin in the unlikely event that both Distin and Baines should be unavailable. If such an eventuality actually occurred it would likely be for 1 or 2 games maximum.

I agree that we definitely need squad players to make up the numbers, but I don't see that LB is a 'priority' at all, given that we have a pretty much identical situation at the right back position but with lesser players in Hibbert and Neville (Baines and Distin > Hibbert and Neville).

Agree Couldnt afford Dembele who is magic, we wont get Lallana either, but i do hope Moyes is still looking, cos we need those extra players.

I'd be happy if we could just add Niang and possibly one more, or a loan or two.

Would be a great mix of experience, quality and youth in the side then. And a little bit of depth

Good player Dembele and hes Belgian FFS, i believe their are top CL clubs who have a big interest in the lad.

Yeah good shout, he makes them tick in midfield. Bournemouth lad who's father is a scouser or so am told,he was in the same boozer as me watching the Italy v England game with his mates.
