Moyes States Collina Fix Belief

1) Source ? Where did he say this and to whom ?

2) "He firmly believes that Everton's exit from the Champions League in 2005 was fixed by UEFA."

Really ? He doesn't say anywhere in those quotes that it was fixed. Just that UEFA would have been happy that we were knocked out. The 'hot balls' thing was a joke as has already been said.

Tabloid 'sensational'ist journalism.

If Collina had any sort of good reputation as an international class referee, he threw it all away in that one match.

With all the talk about match fixing in Cricket lately, this is a welcome reminder by Moyes. I truly believe corruption in sport is far greater than no balls and bad bowling in cricket, and examples like this really need investigating by independant committees.

All i know is the other English teams were not happy when they let liverpool in and were threatening leagal action about having to split the TV money 5 ways.

It suited everyone, Everton being knocked out.

I think we did get given a tough draw on purpose (though the "hot balls" comment made me laugh). I dont think it was a conspiracy against Everton specifically, I just think Uefa didnt want 5 English teams in the Champions League. The English Premier league is already the envy of the rest of the European leagues and they dont want the Premier league to get too far ahead of the other leagues, interms of revenue and the quality of players.

We were also the only club out of the 5 who weren't a member of the G18 group at the time, who were threatening to form a break-away league. Hell, UEFA even re-wrote their own rules to allow one of these member clubs compete that season in the Champions League without even qualifying!

No accountability is the worst thing. Bunch of crooks.

I think every Evertonian could tell you where they were the night of that match. For me I was on Holliday with friends who all were in absolute agreement that we had been screwed over in that game/the draw itself and collina's surprise return for one match!

You look at the teams others have drawn in the qualifying games year in year out... We get villareal?? Coincidence?? Not sure tbf. As said don't think it was against efc, but uefa clearly didnt want 5 English teams in the CL.

The sort of thing we'd laugh at kopites for saying. "It's Uefa's fault". Still you wonder... that's my most painful and regretful moment as a blue.

FFS yes. I criinged when I read that.

I think we all know Collina was bent as a nine bob note in that 2nd leg, but to come out with the hot/cold balls stuff is truly toe-curling.

He's blotted his copy book there. Shut it ginger-minge, you're making a show of us.
