“It may be that I’ll be in a position where I am out of work if I chose not to stay here at Everton, because I do not have a job to go to - there is nothing lined up."

It becomes more obvious by the day that his mind is made up.

He would not make a comment like that if he was staying.

In Moyes time in charge five english league clubs who have spent less money (portsmouth, birmingham, blackburn, boro and swansea) have won trophies .

How many havn't won trophies?
And of those 5, how many were not flukes.. i.e how many did it twice?

Could you of guessed any of the 5 managers that would of won it a decade ago? Do you think if this decade works out the same, its likely that we can guess one of the 5 to perform the same feat? Or is it more likely we'll get one of the first batch.. i.e one of the many that hasn't won a trophy?

By now David Moyes and his representatives will know what is on offer. His availability has been very well publicised and if any clubs are interested in him they will have made that interest known.
Unless the club changes ownership we all know what funds will be available.A little from the new television deal and the proceeds from whatever players are sold.
Ironically the Everton manager, whoever he may be ,could have more money to spend than ever before and David Moyes is very well aware of this.

But then be also says;

“I want what’s best for Everton Football Club and if people say it is best for Everton that I stay, then I would agree"

Confusing

It ain't though. In Moyes time in charge five english league clubs who have spent less money (portsmouth, birmingham, blackburn, boro and swansea) have won trophies and seven clubs plus us who have spent more have won bugger all.

You need money to win the league, grabbing a carling cup takes no such thing, just a manager who can manage a cup run which moyes can't.

Swansea are Welsh mate

Come on mate, that was my very next sentence which you edited out. Eight clubs including us who have spent what we spent or mroe and won nothing. Plus 80 odd to have spent less and won nothing. I ain't saying it's easy.

I'd take a fluke, to be blunt. And of the five managers (mcliesh, laudrup, souness, ramos and redknapp), redknapp is the only one who it was the first trophy, the other four had already won cups in spain, denmark and scotland. Which kind of proves my point about the winning mentality in cups.

You have to laugh really.

Every team that gets listed as winning trophies during Moyes' time here who don't fit the "Only megabucks teams win things" all get called lucky instead.

We've had plenty of "luck" in the cups after having plenty of home ties and lower league sides drawn against us. We've had plenty of good opportunities with very good teams to win a trophy. But haven't.

Its not the impossible dream. Its not easy but with the squads of the quality we've had over Moyes tenure i'd say we're the best team not to have won a trophy.

Didn't we get something like 11 home draws in a row, last year? And would have had to play only one prem side to reach the final this year.

And yeah we're comfortably the best team not to win a trophy in Moyes' time here. Villa would be the only other team to even come close and they've been terribly managed.

Yeah we had a lot of home draws in recent times. Some tough draws too but its not like we've gone out at Old Trafford every year. We've had some good chances to win a cup but haven't, a lot of the time putting in an incredibly awful display on the way out.

As i've said before, Moyes is a victim of his own success when it comes to his performance in cups. If we were still kinda gash and sitting in the bottom half of the table all the time i doubt he'd be criticsied so much for not winning something.

Its because he does such a good job in the league it makes his not as good record in the cups stand out more.

Quick point - there's a ton of stories in Saturday's press about how 'cash is the key to Moyes' future'.

Yet in that Kenwright fluff piece on SSN on Thursday night, when asked if transfer funds would play a part in Moyes staying, Kenwright outright said he 'didn't think this was the case' and added that 'David already knows what his transfer funds are for next season'.

Comments that are completely at odds with what Moyes said in Friday's pre-match presser.

Somebody's fibbing here, for their own ends. One, or maybe even both of them. At the very least, political mind games are being played.

Not a very good list though mate. All bar Swansea have dropped out of the Premier League. In a couple of years Swansea will follow them.
