Moyes pre Stoke Presser

I dont think there is too much of an issue with moyes saying he wants to wait and see. Its been made perfectly clear and the press shouldnt be going on about it all the time. BK should just shut up about it. I am a firm believer that board members should never be heard about in the press

Trouble is, if Bill said nothing this forum would be full of posters complaining that we never hear from him.In this instance he was asked a question, and he answered it. He didn't swerve it, he answered it with what is probably the truth as far as he knows...the ball is in Moyes court. Which other Prem manager has just signed a new deal because his current deal ran out in the summer? It was reported yesterday but I was only half listening while working. At what time in the season, five years ago, did Moyes sign his current contract? If Bill gave Moyes an ultimatum and then sacked Moyes, Bill would be slaughtered on here again, and unjustifiably inn those circumstances. I can honestly see Moyes staying, and then new owners(Ha Ha) sacking him almost as soon as they come in. Moyes needs to know Kenwright will still be around before he signs...its a double edged sword.

Surely that comment in italics nails those that say "moyes is only delaying to see what investment is available " ? If it was about that then you simply can't make those comments . I hasten to add I've never believed for a second it was about that. Personally I'm totally confident it's about whether he's offered a 'decent ' job elsewhere .

I always believed moyes would stay unless he got offered a job & that he probably wouldn't get an offer. The Wigan debacle created a bit of anger and i wondered how on earth he'd ride that out but now it seems that seems normal service has been resumed

Moyes could have made a variety of comments about investment or no comment at all but he did and it makes his position pretty clear to me.

When you lie down with dogs....

Moyes signing again would be the biggest marker laid down that we've settled for mediocrity for the short to mid term future. The feller who wants to win things but also says that to compete you have to have money is now telling us you dont need investment...so that just about settles it then. What he's saying is 'you dont need investment if you're not in the business of winning trophies'. Nothing could be clearer.

Investment not vital = dug in for £4M p.a. and a pat on the head until some German no mark club waves a contract.

Do one ginger plums.

You've got a lovely way with words. Do you write poetry?

David?

Villa WERE a top 6 club WITH money.
Everton are a top 6 club without money.
Which club is run the best?

We'll find that out definitively when Moyes goes.

Villa's owner, at least for a period of time, invested heavily in the club and the team. Until he decided he wanted all his money back and sold all their best players, pocketing more than 50% of the proceeds.

Everton's owner has never invested in the team, any money spent has always been from the proceeds of someone being sold, and have always had to rely on coaching excellence and expertise to stay in the top 6.

Moyes saying different things, yet again:

http://www.sportsmole.co.uk/football/everton/news/moyes-i-wont-jeopardise-everton_76726.html

David Moyes has said that he would not do anything to "jeopardise" Everton, despite being uncertain of his future at the club.

The Scot, who has been the Toffees' manager for 11 years, is out of contract at the end of the current campaign.

Moyes told reporters: "Being at Everton is something I would be really happy with. But we have been talking for a long time now, three or four months and everyone nudges along a little bit further every time we speak. As I have said, we will conclude that at the end of the season.

"What I am trying to do is make sure I give Everton the best chance of going forward. I wouldn't want it any other way. I would never do anything, in any way, to jeopardise Everton or the football club.

"We are well aware of where we are at this moment in time. I have always said that where we finish, what we do at the end of the season, that will be a better time for us to make a decision than just now. It is a great job, Everton. It really is."

Chairman Bill Kenwright recently downplayed reports that Moyes may leave the club.

What the heck does that even mean? That implies negotiations are on-going, when up until now, he's always said negotiations wouldn't start until the end of the season.

Spin spin spin spin....

"Investment isn't essential...we've got a great Chairman here."

Great negotiating position to bargain from.

Mind you, he's probably only ever been arsed about pumping his own wages up by another mill anyway.

One of them has to leave. Has to, to ensure we move, either forward or backward depending on who leaves.

And that is the most annoying thing. We get it nearly right, but why those idiots in the boardroom cannot/will not see the benefits of an additional, relatively, modest injection could bring, I just despair!

Just looking at that quote again:

"I would never do anything, in any way, to jeopardise Everton or the football club.
I want to make sure the supporters see a promising, fresh-looking team for the seasons to come. We have to make sure the finances we have give us the opportunity to do that. We have a small squad, and in truth we have an ageing squad as well, which we need to look at.

After 11 years in charge and building at least two teams - how uninspiring is the prospect being held out here that the bright new future is another go on the roundabout that's produced, when all's said and done, precisely sweet FA?

If he signs (which he no doubt will - as all I've seen so far is an elaborate pitch for a third contract) with only the conditions he's outlined, it'll be a hammer blow.

Is this not a sign of a well run club tho'?

You keep saying that, it isn't true.
