moyes says portsmouth and west ham are a danger to football

agree with him 100%

probably not legal , but is it time for a wage and transfer cap perhaps ?

It would be legal if all the clubs agreed to it.

Re Moyes: his argument is very poor. Like he says, now West ham and Pompey are backing off and looking to get people off the salary bill. So that means that they have brought problems on not on us, but on themselves. Things have evened out now.

To be fair, he was asked about Kakas deal causing market inflation. He just pointed out Everton had already suffered thanks to likes of West Ham and Portsmouth (surprised he never mentioned Newcastle....) In that respect, it probably did cause us problems, who is to say we never bid for Diarra but Portsmouth offered silly wages?

Its something we all know, West Ham, Spurs, Newcastle, Fulahm have all followed the money trail and got themselves absolutley no where, as i suspect City might.

Just when reality seems to be kicking in some other goon comes along and f""cks it up again. Anyhow money isnt what it is all about, however it is the only thing we are missing!

I think Portsmouths money problems are vastly over exaggerated. They are nowhere near going bankrupt and have just made fat profits from selling two of their players.

Not only are they not in financial dire straights but they won the FA Cup and have had their first european adventure in god knows how long.

But how do you explain them having Sol Campbell on 90k a week when he was there?

90k a week for someone well past it! Barmy! You reap what you sow, and the Pompey's, barcodes, Hammers of the world will get their comeuppance.

Lucas Neill was the famous example, turning down a move to Liverpool because West Ham offered him silly money. Moyes is of course right but it is indicative of the short-termism at some clubs, both in the boardroom and on the terraces. It's no surprise that clubs such as Man Utd and Arsenal have strict wage structures. It not only messes up finances but messes up team moral. Look at Man City and the consternation caused by Robinho's salary. They can afford it (in a fashion) but it causes conflict in the dressing room when one player earns so much more than the others.
