Leicester were favourites for relegation the season they won that league title.

Theyd been in the championship. Promoted and barely stayed up. They were bottom of the table on 14 points from 26 games. Remarkable they stayed up. Then won the league the season after
But the season they won the league they had Vardy, Mahrez and Kante. It was unexpected but they actually had three of the best players in the league. We had Marcus Bent. Who didn't turn out to be one of the best players in the league.

But, but, but, we finished 17th the season before!

Compare that to Leicester. They were bottom of the table after 28 games the season before the title. They had to win 7 of their last 9. Recall everyone fuming they legged Pearson for Ranieri that summer.

Cant recall who they signed that summer, Huth and Kante?
But they also had Mahrez and Vardy. It was unexpected but they actually had a really good team that season. We didn't. We had a bang average team. None of the players we had turned out to be better than expected in the future.

I sooner play chess with a pigeon than debate with you TBH. Everything I say is way over your head.

Mate, you think us finishing 4th is a bigger achievement than Leicester winning the league.

You're the pigeon in this scenario.

As for Leicester having 2 world class players. Imagine what magic Moyes could do with a team consisting of the likes of David De Gea, Ferdinand, Vidic, Giggs , Rooney and Van Persie.

I'm going to guess no manager in the world could do better.

Was the Leicester team that won the league not significantly better than our squad that finished 4th pidgie?

Yes, it won the league.

Thanks Pidgie, so you think a manager with a better team that finishes a few places higher than a manager with a significantly worse team in every circumstance can be said to have managed his team better that year? Why do we want Glasner again? Bird poo everywhere

I think winning the Premier League is a greater achievement than finishing 4th.

Pretty sure 99% of people will think the same.

Probably yourself and the other Pigeon lover John Aldridge will argue the point though.

Not in the long-term, see examples like Dyche Burnley, us for years etc. Brentford does well as well.

on the other hand, when we invested heavilly under Moshiri, we got significiantly worse year by year, it‘s never a guarantee that expensive signs work…

I am happy tho we have money to spend again to get closer to Europe and into Europe again. Surely need another 100-150 to have not only depth, but also a good quality of depth.
Under moshiri we were mugged by agents and clubs. Felt like we were a money laundering project in hindsight… taking El Ghazi as “a favour” seemed like a fever dream in hindsight.
The only way we will get any higher is with better players, it’s no coincidence that the top six have the better players, just need two quality full backs and a PR0PER striker .
Only been asking for a striker for 15 years it seems… with break for lukaku, ( until people started moaning about his hold up play)

I feel like that too but if he gets us Euro footy, that’s creating the platform to attract better players and a better manager, who might actually win a domestic trophy. I’d hang on to him for another season if it delivered that.
The problem with that, though, is we have to commit to another full season under Moyes knowing that (as it stands) it is his last. I firmly believe if we want a shot at tangible success we have to roll the dice this Summer.

I realise there's potential downside to doing so, but that is always the trade-off. The club needs to poo or get off the pot: Ring the changes this Summer or, as @GrandOldTeam said, give Moyes an extension. Going into next season with Moyes running down his last year is 100% the worst (non) decision we could make.

Yeah, that’s a good point. Think I’m suffering PTSD from the previous merry-go-round of managers since Moyes Mk I who have all dragged us down, not up (Bobby’s first season and possibly Carlo excepted).

As much as I'm keen to shake hands and replace Moyes at the start of the summer, Tottenham's current manager search options are good evidence for why I'm hugely skeptical of anyone who wants to replace him now:

De Zerbi (headcase and awful person)
Poch (maybe washed, not available til after world cup anyway)
Robbie Keane (lol)
Rose (...maybe?)
Terzic (almost definitely not)

Worth reminding yourself that they aren’t the only options that exist.

A huge amount of (blind) faith has to be placed in the club hierarchy to unearth us a gem from outside the usual carousel of nonsense that is set in motion whenever a middling PL job becomes available.
