In lord of the rings, why dont they just use the giant eagles in the first place, hop on one, have a quick jot over to the mordor, lash the ring in then get back for tea time

Cos the eagles weren't arsed about the ring. Or something. They're only used throughout his writings as "God's intervention", or Deux ex machina.

While the facts here are correct, the planes are so close that the tails would still hit. Especially the F5's between the 14's two.

I do concede the film would have been drastically shorter had this have happened.
