Ferguson has always looked just "good" to me. I don't mean to knock him when I say that, it's just that unlike Khabib you never got the impression he was unbeatable.
Khabib I view as the best pound for pound athlete to ever compete in MMA.
Ferguson cut weight two weeks ago when the card was originally scheduled to happen against khabib. It was a massive gamble for Ferguson to fight Justin on short notice and after cutting weight two weeks prior. He looked a lot slower than normal for sure, usually he puts on a pace that few can keep up with, but without the ability to do that he just looked like a punchbag on legs. Justin fought a near perfect fight as well though, credit to him for that.
khabib best pound for pound? Based on what? He's undefeated but he hardly has a great resume, it's not like he's been fighting the best guys in LW for years. His standup is mediocre at best, he just carries such a threat of a takedown that he can get away with it. Someone like GSP who fought the very best his division could offer for 8 years straight, who out-wrestled D1 wrestlers, and out-struck knockout artists for me is the best this sport has seen. Even Jon Jones could point to his resume and say he's fought the best that his division had to offer, because he has. Khabib was lucky to get past Tibau. There's a reason he's not a very active fighter and it's not just his love for tiramisu.
