Looking through some of the threads and figured id toss out a thread for all MMA. With UFC 241 coming up, what are your predictions. The card is the following:
Cormier vs Miocic
Pettis vs Diaz
Romero vs Costa
Benitez vs Yusuff
Brunson vs Heinisch
Fantastic looking card with a lot of "toss ups". I think I am taking Miocic, Diaz, Romero, Yusuff, and Brunson. Let me know GOT

2nd or 3rd round, Cormier is superb but Stipe will be on form to get his belt back.
Honestly curious to know if Stipe will be a bit to aggressive and cave right in to where Cormier wants him. I just want a good fight... until the Askren vs Masvidal debacle lol

Pettis hurts Diaz with a kick to the body and follows up for the stoppage. Diaz claims it was early.

Really tough to call anything on this card. A Cormier win here surely puts him number 1 in the all time heavyweight rankings, UFC at least.

Romero vs Costa the juiciest fight of the USADA era so far. Just two natural boys being all natural.

The old MMA thread was a goldmine for dreadful opinions.

My personal favourite was when’s @Tubey maintained for ages that Chris Weidman was better than Jon Jones. I do hope you’ve changed your mind, sir.

I didn't though. I said Weidman had the better record at the time and that Jones didn't deserve to be called an all-time great in 2016.

I still think that to be honest, although clearly Jones is the better fighter. And I said at the time Jones will almost certainly go on to be a far better fighter when all is said and done.

Search for the posts if you want - "Weidman" by Tubey is how to vault them.

I'm not saying he isn't great - I'm just saying the "Ali or Tyson of his sport" is not a tag I agree with, and there are others who I rate way more than him. Weidman isn't one of those. GSP and Silva most certainly are, and for Jones to be the "greatest mixed martial artist of all time" he has a massive way to go.

Pretty much that ^

Reason I'd place Weidman higher is because he beat Silva twice, who was invincible up until that point (I know the circumstances were strange but he still dominated). Not much higher mind.

It's not because of Jones' personality I don't rate him (I think Mayweather is the greatest technical fighter ever, and he's a pure bell) - it's just I see him as a guy who has a record similar to a boxer who has been by and large a flat track bully with the odd good name on his resume.

At this point Weidman had beaten: Maia, Munoz, Silva, Machida, Belfort and Lawlor.

Jones had beaten: Cormier, Glover, Gustafsson, Sonnen, Belfort, Evans, Machida, Rampage, Shogun, Bader, Matyushenko, Vera and Bonnar.

Surely that’s a better record at the time for Jones, no? Some flat track bully.

Probably, but I placed greater emphasis on his defeat of Anderson Silva at the time, who for me outshone those Jones had beaten.

Of course, Silva's record since indicates he caught him at the right time.

Point is I was responding to Jones being considered a contender for G.O.A.T. I strongly disagreed and, due to his doping issues, still do. I gave Weidman as a comparative example in terms of records, while acknowledging Jones would go further in the sport.

He's clearly an exceptional MMA fighter and obviously far in excess of Weidman, and drug issues aside probably one of the 10 best ever, but not the greatest of all time. For me, that's GSP.

Did any of you watch the WEC? Think they merged with the UFC but used to be a fighter called Miguel Torres and had a mullet. He used to be absolute quality and skilful. Think he was in the top 10 p4p fighters in MMA at the time.
