If you think about it though, what's the point of paying respects? It seems pretty unlikely to me that anyone affected by this will be reading this thread, so it's hard to imagine what we type here will make the victims and their families feel any better.

If it's not a selfless offering of help to those involved it doesn't seem so bad for folks to debate why this happens and how society can stop/deter it from happening again. If you're truely sorry about such events then it seems a natural progression.
im all for debates mates but i feel like i have to pay respects even though really i know the families wont read this thread and wont ever see me.

i wasnt having ago but shouldnt a debate happen in its own thread and not on a thread thats here to inform us about the shooting and for us to pay our respects .

So Pay them. Everyone makes valid points, and they have been well said. This is an open discussion, and if you'd like to talk about any of the victims, the shooters, or the injured are doing, give us an update, feel free bro.

FBI investigators said they were treating the shootings as a ‘‘domestic terrorism-type incident’’.

just for some clarification does any one know how many people are injured and dead because people in this thread are saying different figures. RIP

Fair enough. Certainly not the time for having any kind of ding dong about it, equally sad and baffling that these things continue to happen.

That's PC Madness. No system can be flawless, of course, but to have people walking around with the sole intention to murder you... and that doesn't that unsettle you? What if someone very close to you was killed, and the Killer got off scot-free after a few cushy years in the Clink? Is that Justice?

If your DNA/fingerprints are on the Knife, the knife was adjudged to have entered the body, the resulting wound adjudged to have killed the Victim then why should you be able to appeal that?

Too much time and money is being spent defending these Criminals in open and shut cases but regardless, my question is about the Death Penalty and should taking a life deem you losing yours?

Not wanting innocent people to die is PC rubbish ?

If you think the prison system isn't tough enough, then you need to go about saying we should change that, not saying that we should go around killing people.

And here's a nice statistic for you to chew on:

Since the DP was reinstated in 1976, 82 inmates have been freed from Death Row. That's 1 Death Row inmate found to be wrongfully convicted for every 7 executed.

Incarcerating people isn't? Giving 25 people a job to look after One person seems more a waste of time, money, space and effort.

Some people cant even afford to feed their own kids and we gotta pay to keep these fools alive till they die 'naturally'??
They have it cushy, read the article ive put up, he said, hes looking forward to Prison, ill watch Coronation Street and they have a big fat canteen.

When this person gets out, all be it in 30/40 years, hes gonna kill again i hope its not our kids or grandkids he kills.
Yet this is about whether the death penalty is a valid form of "punishment", not about the conditions of a prison, or the [in]humanity of something like Solitary Confinement.
