The recent publicity over Jeff Astle and other former players, some like Jeff, now dead having suffered in later life from the consequences of head trauma, perhaps largely contributed to by just heading the ball so often, has brought the whole subject to the fore in football.

The balls have gotten significantly safer since the 90's as the outer-material no longer absorbs moisture which before then would add considerable weight to the ball.

Get well soon.
Wanted him booted as far away from Everton as possible after last season but credit where it’s due he’s been good this season.

I think watching him live after last season is difficult because I worry every time he’s near the ball but the truth is he’s done very little wrong this season so far.

It’s typical though isn’t it. The lad was pretty useless last season and no one would have complained had he been sold. New manager, new season, playing well and gets laid out by a teammate.........

I’d be surprised if it turned out to be anything too serious. He got a couple of blows to the head and fell unconscious. He’ll probably have a week or so off and then be back in training.
A week or so? Give over...these days they will err on the side of caution.
1 month minmum...depending on on what the before scans say and what the after scans say.

Nobody in the medical world will give you an accurate definition of what concussion actually is, because It's different for different people.
So they wont give you a fixed time out

and that combined with our best player getting redcarded and suspended.

aye, plus Keane has previous with brain trauma from head injuries as linked here earlier.

I think he will be out for some time, with a head injury it can't be taken lightly.
Plus it is also a confident issue going up to head the ball with an opponent

Yes they have, but the point is his recent death has brought the whole head injury issue into focus again, and how we deal with concussion nowadays.
