Micah Richards

Of course the figures being bandied about here may be well off, but I just don't see Lescott being worth £10m more than Richards. No way on earth. He's undoubtably a better player now, of that there's no doubt, but £10m better? I'm not convinced at all.

But then we're coming at the deal with a different set of eyes, City with no money troubles and looking to bring in ready made players may see Lescott as fitting their profile of player and may be happy to part with a player (who the manager has fallen out with) who will need a lot of couching paitence and hard work. Cue Everton reluctent sellers who demand a premium, selling thier valued England International centre half. I dont think your/our rationaile of penny pinching i.e Lescott being 10mill better Richards will come into City's thinking especially with the history between him and Hughes, if Jo proves anything its City arent prepared to sit and develop talent and Richard for me falls into that category. I like Richards, undoubhted potential but he has a lot to porve at centre half for me.

Anyway i hope this is all irrelevent because i dont want to sell Lescott. Nash says the players have "confidence he will stay" hmm.

Sure, he's not the finished article, but then few centre backs are at 21 years of age. Give him a bit of time to mature and have Moyes work on him and he could be a great. Physically he's a beast.

See, here's why I don't think Richards is worth that much. Yes, he's a beast physically, but how important is that? Think of the top central defenders in Europe - Cannavaro, Puyol, Ferdinand, Nesta. The thing they have in common is brains, which is why defenders tend to mature later than attackers.

Obviously it's nice to have the physical side too, but brains are much, much more important. Arguably, the best pure athlete playing central defence in the premier league is Titus Bramble. You can say "give Richards time, he might mature", but there's really no more reason to suspect Richards will become a top class defender than anybody else, like Steven Taylor or Wheater.

Lescott has proved himself on a consistant basis, which makes him worth £20m+ (using the Glenn Johnson yardstick). Richards really hasn't proved anything.

If our spies eye sight is not as bad as we think (the guy in the chippy on Goodison Road), Siteehhhs Micah Richards has today been spotted at Goodison Park. Now if true, this could lead to all kind of money transactions between Everton and the Blue Mooners involving Jo, Roger and Micah all heading off in different directions.

Wasnt Richards at Goodison the other day?

Its all balls matey. For a start...no player will be around Goodison Park, not even our own. Finch Farm, and in the past few days in Scotland, is where you'd see any of the player players.

I really dont wish to pour fuel on this fire, but it would make sense for Richards to go and meet somebody from the Club at GP, rather than go to Scotland. But its a nothing story anyway.

Richards is very raw, hes very strong and comparing him to Titus Bramble is very harsh. Hes only a young un.

I wasn't really comparing Richards to Bumble, but rather using him as the ultimate example that being an athlete really isn't that important as a central defender. I mean, who would you rather have, Bramble or Weir/Stubbs/40 year old Richard Gough?

Yes, Richards is young, but so are Taylor and Wheater. Richards has shown very poor intelligence (on and off the field actually), hence the reason he has fallen behind Onuha (sp?) at City. There's really no reason to believe that he will become a top class defender - that's not to say it's impossible, but to start putting a £12m+ price tag on him you'd want to be pretty certain he'll be class one day.

As a matter of interest, does anybody know where the finance people (i.e. Elstone etc) have their offices? Is it at Goodison or at Finch Farm?

Would take Richards as a backup, but not as a primary CD. And if we swap him for Lescott... he will be primary CD for the most of this season since Jags is injured and Yobo will leave for ACN, unless we get yet another CD that is better than Richards.

But if we do that, we need alot of cash to splash out on that CD... and which team would be prepared to loose such a CD to us, without bleeding us dry?

micah's had a shocking season at city
turned into a billy big boots
at right back he gets forward alot with no end product, and then jogs back half-heartedly leaving us exposed
at centre back he has been switching off at crucial moments
if we were to sign lescott, i can't see where micah would get a game at city

They only gave it 4 because they've bought the story about him being spotted at goodison.

It looks like they didn't get told the version where he was there with Osman, who was actually in Scotland.
