Messymascot's faith in humanity and ginger safe haven

Morning everyone,

Got back from Lesbos late last night. Weather was mixed with some sunny days and a couple with rain and cloud but it was absolutely freezing at night.

Granny trouble in the care home whilst we were away so I will yet again have to pick up the pieces and try to sort a way forward.

It's getting to the point that it's more hassle to go away than the benefits.

Anyway here's a couple of photos of Molyvos to get your appetite for next summer...
Gorgeous place, thanks again for the recommendation

Hi folks. Last night of our hols tonight ( hopefully no repeat of the debacle of last year!) We are currently sitting on the terrace listening to a rock band who have included Take Me Home Country Roads in their set! Other songs include Paranoid, Born To Be Wild and another curveball- Superstition I have a mojito. All is good.
Safe trip home .

Morning all, grey and cloudy again as it has been for the past few days, which hasn’t helped lift my mood. Still coming down from last week I guess but also had a bit of sad news yesterday. It doesn’t affect me directly but still…
Granddaughter’s best friend is not of British origin and they have been meeting up on the walk to school, however recently the friend has been getting a lift. Her parents are reluctant to let her walk as she has been subjected to racist abuse. I’m sure this is nothing to do with the amount of flags appearing on lampposts and from windows in the area which are no doubt just a display of patriotism by people who are proud of this country and of course people are entitled to their opinion. Yesterday granddaughter was very upset to learn that the family have decided to leave the country so she will be losing her friend. I don’t mean to get all political, this isn’t really the place and am sorry if I’ve caused offence but the whole situation has just got to me a bit.
Have a good day, all.šŸ’™

Definitely a different experience! Sounds like you have had a great time with lots of laughs and adventures. Safe trip home

How very sad to hear that but not surprising. I despair I really do.

So sorry to read that both about the poor girl and also your Granddaughter.

Sadly growing up and living in NI, I knew the inevitable outcome of this marking territory with flags on lampposts and roundabouts. This drift to the right seems to be infecting politics everywhere now.

It really is heartbreaking what's going on in this country at the moment. Heartbreaking and also scary

It saddens me too . I feel so much for the children , I felt that things had moved on since I was in the UK ,now iI feel that it is going backwards , my younger boy I have been told is racist and homophobic ,my eldest the complete opposite enough to say they have stopped talking to each other .I sent them to school where the pupils had come from all backgrounds ,in my efforts to make them more open to other people than I had been brought up to understand . The school celebrated all religious festivals and all had to participate which I was in full agreement and jealous too if the truth be told .I would have loved a greater understanding of other cultures .
I am a foreigner and it has opened my eyes to the trials and tribulations that we are exposed to ,saying that I am lucky being English and of European descent .
