Morning all, off to have my nails done in a bit then on to get birthday cake and balloons for sons 30th tomorrow. Still do daft things like that. Just to make him extra cringe I’ve asked for a happy 30th birthday to be put on the big screen at half time tomorrow! I’m sure they get lots of requests like that and there’s always lots of tributes and birthday messages but . He can’t celebrate properly due to his wife being poorly and pregnant so im trying to make it as memorable as possible. I think he’d like 3 points more than anything at the moment though. Thank you and enjoy your family research. I did a bit yesterday, it turns out that I have a grandfather (can’t just remember how many greats without checking) who was born and lived in the village where my son has moved to. Hoping for something exciting but bless him he was a boat man on the canals, about the time the Leeds Liverpool canal was coming into its own. Because of his job tho I can really build up a picture of what his life was like and that’s what makes it interesting to me.

It is a lot colder than it looks today outside(it'd still be summer for @blue1948 lol)

Had our morning walk and I had opened a window so it wasn't as warm getting in. I can't suss out the energy prices. I only got up at 5 and had the heating on a little bit and it's already at £1.30+ which seems a tad high. Then my bill last month was much higher than the smart meter said it would be. Hate them having us by the short and curlies.

Well as you all know I love a bit of Slipknot and things are changing by the look of it. They sacked the drummer Jay Weinberg and nobody knows why, including Jay, they want to go in a different direction apparently, whatever that means. They've just finished the seven album deal they started with RoadRunner records back in the 90's and so have total creative control now.

Everyone in the metal scene is trying to guess who it is but it looks like it could be a guy called Eloy Casagrande, widely considered the best metal drummer out there and although Slipknot have said nothing, Eloy has just quit his band of 13years Sepultura on the eve of their farewell tour, so that is why people think it is him. I've never listened to Sepultura so no idea.

Good morning all. Lots of exciting things going on. Happy birthday to your son @Val P . I still do cakes and balloons for my two as well. Interesting news from the world of metal from @Terrarian . I hope ypu get through your ancestral brick walls @Gwladysover . Meanwhile in County Durham it is freezing- frost again this morning. I think I've been too optimistic in my choice of clothes today - went for a 3/4 sleeved T shirt. The big fluffy cardi is back on now!
I hope we win tomorrow, it will be a really good boost for everyone connected with Everton.

We couldn’t understand how ours was so high before the heating had even switched on. Apparently our smart meter includes the standing charge, maybe yours does too. Great to see you posting again.

Utilita don't have standing charges thankfully. My DD is £87 and I've been under it last couple of months on the smart meter but my last bill says it was a£107 I thought smart meters were for the purpose of being able to control your energy usage, it's no good if it's wrong. They didn't ask for the extra though strangely.

@blue1948 which video did you watch? I'm sure you were headbanging to it lol lol because my head is so chaotic I actually find Slipknot cathartic and you get used to the heavy sound after a bit.

Sounds like your smart meter is either too smart or not smart enough.

We don't have them. I think they are a con trick.

Hopefully your DD averages things out over the year so that although you’ve gone over in winter they won’t ask for the extra as it’s likely you’re in credit and come summer you’ll use less than your £87 DD . They rarely let you go into debit though, usually like to run your DD so that you’re in credit .
